Rendell's sexist gaffe (about Janet Napolitano)
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | December 3, 3008 | Timothy McNulty

Posted on 12/03/2008 10:05:55 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

Ed Rendell was the MC for the governor's meeting in Philly yesterday, where there was much to be heard on the open mics. CNN zeroed-in its microphones on Pa's motor-mouthed governor and heard him saying this about Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Obama's pick for Homeland Security chief:

"Janet's perfect for that job. Because for that job, you have to have no life. Janet has no family. Perfect. She can devote, literally, 19-20 hours a day to it."

CNN's Campbell Brown went off on the guv last night:

Wow. Now, I'm sure Gov. Napolitano has many qualifications for the job beyond having no family, and therefore the ability to devote 20 hours a day to the job.

But it is fascinating to me that that is the quality being highlighted here as so perfect. C'mon. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff is married with two grown children. His predecessor, Tom Ridge, had a family. Anybody remember a debate about whether they would have trouble balancing the demands of work and family?

Who the hell cares?

Just more ado about nothing for the perpetually outraged.

No, but Campbell did have a debate when Sarah Palin was running as the VP. I guess it wasn't sexist then.

The Dems also implied the Palin could not handle VP because of her children.

Obviously, the Dems are sexist pigs who do not think women can handle much.

But, the women keep voting these people back in.

And I am sure that Campbell Brown came to Gov. Palin’s defense as well right?

Looking awfully hard for things to be offended by, Campbell.

C’mon Campbell. What he meant to say was she was uniquely qualified for the position. Just like Janet Reno was uniquely qualified to be AG.

LOL. Where is the sexism? Just because he said she doesn’t have a family? Wow.

I’d be more offended as a person—rather than as a woman—if someone said I “had no life.” Makes you sound pathetic.

This is the kind of bull crap that gets the MSM into hot water. At what point does Brown stop reporting “the news” and start stating her own interpretation of the facts. If you play the video, at 58 seconds into the 2:58 video, she stops acting like a reporter and starts stating her beliefs on the subject. I really don’t give a crap what she thinks. Tell me the issues and make the wild assumption that I have a brain and can reason for myself. Your job, Ms Brown, is to report the facts. After you’ve done that, STFU.

Responded Gov. Rendell: “Campbell Brown is a dumb skirt with a soup can label for a name. Somebody should chain her to the stove and teach her to cook before I slap the mascara off her face.”

I don’t see the problem here.

I used to be single(as a matter of fact, I was single for a LONG time) and people used to say the same thing about me.

Never took any offense to it.

But then, Cammy Brown is one of those liberals who, like all liberals, just can’t wait to find something she can scream and whine about.

It’s fun when the Dems have the playing field to themselves. If it weren’t for all the damage they do (Lots), I could just sit back & watch the freakshow.

Exactly. It’s the grievance lobby at work again. He didn’t say it was her only qualification, he didn’t say she was less qualified than others, he said he she had an additional attribute that the job required. Just another illustration of how far the P.O. will stretch the facts to find something to complain about.

In a local meeting yesterday, I heard one of our leftist loons spew nonsense for almost ten minutes, then end it with a claim that she’d been insulted. The insult? One of the politicians, interviewed about her position on an issue, called it shortsighted. Said she, “shortsighted means stupid and I resent being called stupid, I’m not stupid”. I couldn’t help but think that when you have to proclaim you’re not stupid because it’s not otherwise evident, you’re in trouble.

I think it was homophobic more than sexist.

Good grief. Janet Napolitano is a human skunk. She loves cameras and to watch people. She got into office through the Gregoire/Franken technique where they counted and recounted until she won. She's of indeterminable sexuality. She helped persecute Fife Symington and Clarence Thomas. She's from the Janet Reno/Donna Shalala school.

Eddie just didn't know her well enough.

Cambell Brown should be fired, along with everyone else at CNN.

Janet Napolitano will actually be a Homeland Security Chief in name only.

Her TRUE portfolio:

Secretary of Federal Department of Tourism.

Got that right.

Remember the movie “It’s Pat.” The movie description says “Pat Riley, an obnoxious busybody of undeterminable sex,”

Pretty much sums up Gov Napolitano.

Throw is vicious and vindictive as well.

Oh, and how exactly she defend Arizona against the assault on Arizonans by illegal aliens, drug dealers and murderers/rapists/thiefs/gangs that have flowed across the border?
