HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle says there's no politics in her decision not to attend a National Governors Associatoin meeting next week with President-elect Barack Obama.
The Republican governor says her primary responsiblities are at home. She plans several meetings with department heads on challenges facing the local economy. The conference in Philadelphia would have taken her away Monday through Wednesday.
Lingle says, "Politics played absolutely no role" in her decision.
Obama invited all 50 governors to discuss the nation's economy. Forty are expected, including Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Obama's Hawaii campaign director, Andy Winer, accused Lingle of ignoring the meeting.

There is definitely politics involved in a President-designate turning up at a National Governor’s Meeting, and presuming to make demands of a governor, one way or the other.
Where is the criticism of the, what, nine or ten other governors, who did not attend as well? Are these other governors all Democrats? That’s the only reason for singling this one governor out, that I can see. Unless, that is, it’s due to her being governor of Hawaii.
Lingle, release the birth certificate.

This one would certainly like Governor Palin to find something better to do also. Like perhaps play a game of golf with her counterpart Governor Lingle.
There’s no reason for Obama to make a stink about this unless he wants a private audience with Lingle.

I’m going to guess and say that she knows what’s on the long form. She thinks he won’t be around much longer and that she would not be missing much from the pretentious One.
I’m also going to guess that the incident made him feel ‘insecure’ about his support.
There are rumors that the White House knows that Obamanazi is not eligible to be President.
I wonder what happens if the President of the United States calls up a Governor and asks if that man is eligible to be President.
I suppose under law she can’t tell him.
But I suppose she could signal him in some way without actually saying...........
I think we will eventually know ...I am going to laugh my ass off at all his hullabaloo and appointments and signs if it turns out he was the greatest con man in the history of the United States.

A more cunning Lingle would have offered to bring the original BC along with her in case SCOTUS wanted it.
At least he’s learning.

He wants them all eating out of his hand. He will be dangling bailout aid and getting them to pant like dogs looking at a bone. I know for certain that my Governor (Schwarzenegger) will be hopping up and down like a newborn puppy.
Hard to believe that Hawaii actually elected a Republican, albeit a liberal one, as Governor.
Is he putting up a stink about the other nine who won’t be there? Why is it so important that Linda Lingle be there?
I’d watch my back if I were her.
Lingle’s cunning is not to be discussed in polite circles.
If he is found to be unqualifed, it will make an excellent litmus test for all future CIC’s, GOVs etc. to use when filling posts, determine their position on this 0, then if they say their are/were on his side, inform them they have admitted to a willingness to take part in a felony and are unfit for the post being filled.
Perhaps O can explain his failure to honor his grandmother following her death.
He has yet to step foot in Hawaii to have a memorial service for her.
That he would dare to gripe about Lingle not attending his 57 min. meet and greet, media and photo avail is the height of ignorance and arrogance.
Maybe she knows something we don’t?

It’s everywhere the WH the backhouse. People are beginning to see him. There’s a ground swell ready to explode and SCOTUS was the first break. Ms Lindle the second break. I think more and more people are going to start distancing themselves from him, especially when/if this thing goes into oral orguments before SCOTUS.

She is staying away to avoid “the issue”. End of story. If she were worth a sh*t, she’d tell the truth, that Zero told her to seal that BS Hawaiian BC, and save our country from our first illegally elected president. Sadly, very few politicians have any integrity. It’s all about them.
Exactly. I was surprised how openly confrontational Congressman Neil Abercrombie was being in trying to get her to attend the meeting. I mean, come on, "batting the hand of friendship away" from Obama just by missing a couple of hours of his focus-tested drivel? Yeah, right.
There seems to be a lot of positioning going on behind the scenes between the Dems in Hawaii and Lingle... and the Governor sure looked self-assured and in control of the situation, even when Abercrombie got so flustered. She truly is sitting in a position of enormous power and I hope she uses it to banish the usurper.
What could be better than Sarah schooling 'The One' on how energy and economics go hand in hand?

I get the idea that this Obama governors meeting was under false pretense. The sole purpose of the meeting was to get to Lingle on the sly. He's getting desperate.
Don't forget about the other two (I believe) that he wasn't going to be able to campaign in. :=)
He saw no value in attending the global economic summit, but his governors meeting is important? Stick a pin in him; he’ll disappear as he jets away!
