power and a yearly fresh crop of college age female interns.
After he abdicated the throne, the Roman emperor Diocletian retired to his estates to indulge in his favorite pasttime of growing his own food. The successors he left in place soon fell out, and a delegation of leading citizens went to Diocletian’s farm to beg him to return and assume power again. Diocletian’s reply was, “What, and give up all this cabbage?”
I suspect Bubba’s response would be similar.
The most prescient thing Rush said years ago was that the Clintons were NOT GOING AWAY. I briefly thought he was wrong when Nobama was elected. Alas...
a return to office via his wife Hillary's vacated New York U.S. Senate seat
Nothing like a bit of nepotism to stagnate the political gene pool.
From President to Senator? No way Jose’. Just like Rush he wouldn’t take the pay (and status) cut.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
Please, Salena? I’m thrilled to be getting rid of the other one. I’m going to have nightmares now.
I would think it would be a MAJOR conflict of interest. Him voting on issues and the little woman being Sec of State and all.
Remember the Dubai issue a few years back, But honey I no you were voting one way and I was over there “Consulting” for a nice fee against your position but but but.....
I am shocked I tell you, Shocked that they are still together. LOL
If this is an appointed position for now until the next election then I agree that Chelsea Clinton would be on the inside track.
Hey, that might not be a bad idea—Chelsea is one smart cookie, plain looking true, but smart in an Eleanor Roosevelt sort of way. Old Bill would be a fun guy in the Senate as well, but I don’t think Obama is that dumb. Bill and Hill could double team him if things go south.
Chelsea is not old enough. You have to be 30.
Thank God.
Oh Pulllllllllllleaaaaaaaaaaaasseeeeeeeee!!
Why won’t the Clinton machine just go away??? I’m sick of the MR’er and her Thighness.
Not a bad article, but the columnist omitted to add that former President Andrew Johnson actually did serve in the Senate (briefly) after leaving the White House.
I wrote it and yep, I forgot old Andy. My bad.
Hey opocno Since when does the rule of law apply hell Obama aint even eligible and he is gonna Jive dance his way into the White house
LLS
Well, Governor Patterson is getting pressure from a lot of people wanting to be Senator. Appointing Bill as a caretaker would avoid offending any of them by picking another one.
The problem is that Bill could not be counted on to keep any promise to be just a caretaker.
Possibly, and that is another way of avoiding offending any of the self-promoting candidates.
Since Paterson was Lt. Governor until he succeeded Spitler, isn't that office vacant? So who would succeed pateron if he had himself appointed Senator?
I don’t think they could slide Chels all the way up to senator now, but you know it’s the way political families think that he could hold the seat before passing it along to her in six years. E.g., Biden’s got a seat holder for his son in Delaware now, Kennedys will try to follow Teddy with some one of his kin.
Is Chelsea old enough?
