WASHINGTON President-elect Barack Obamas aides say he is considering making a major foreign policy speech from an Islamic capital during his first 100 days in office.
So where should he do it? The list of Islamic world capitals is long, and includes the obvious Riyadh, Kuwait City, Islamabad and the not-so-obvious Male (the Maldives), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Some wise-guys have even suggested Dearborn, Mich., as a possibility.

Why, the Lenin Mausoleum on Red Square!
Or else, Katyn.
Or Cambodian killing fields.
So many places to choose...

Somewhere in Turkey might be good. I can’t imagine him doing this in Islamabad, the risk of danger is just too high.
My mind is just running through the horror of what would happen if our President was attacked on a visit to a Muslim country. God forbid.

Just do it from Washington. Why choose an old Islamic capital?

How about focusing on what Obama might say? This ruminating about “where” is childish. So far, Obama is full of empty rhetoric. What’s he going to do? Show up in some Arab capital & try to BS his way through a 45 minute speech the way he did in Berlin? Guarantee that ain’t going to fly with the locals.

On an earlier thread, I suggested the Marianas Trench. I now realize the bottom of Lake Michigan would be better since it is much closer to Dearbornistan.

In light of recent events in Mumbai, maybe he could pick Karachi.
