I’m grateful for this project. Those who were born later or came of age later often don’t know how intense was the grief of an entire nation in 1963. These memories of people who were actually involved in the state funeral for JFK are not only interesting, but invaluable. Thank you for posting them.
I’m offended by people who are such insecure twits, they take this as an opportunity to denegrate a fallen president or make inappropriate political statements. Such uncalled for comments are akin to making childish rude remarks at a gravesite and reflect on the poster much more than the presidents they insult. If you choose not to honor JFK, fine; but take your sophomoric comments elsewhere and leave those of us who do care to honor him and his memory in peace.
Well said. You’re welcome.

Ping for reference
Thanks for the ping. fyi ...
The latest edition of Tom Reid’s book rearranges the individual accounts of the state funeral chronologically instead of having each persons account stand independently as in the original edition. This provides the reader a better understanding and a more comprehensive overview of the sequence of events. This major revision required that the book be completely reorganized and largely rewritten.
The new edition is retitled:
THEIR FINEST HOUR
The Old Guard At The State Funeral of President John F. Kennedy
This 182 page book contains many photos of the event and can be purchased here:
