A simple coo is stirring up controversy among some holiday shoppers. They believe a new doll was programmed to say Islam is the light. Is that what the doll is saying? You Decide

Another Rorschach Test.
When I read your topic, I was like “come on now, really?!”...
But then I listened to video and it definitely says something “is the light” and it sounds a lot like that first word is “islam”.
Ya, it does. Just listened to the doll on Glenn Beck. What he did not know was where it was made. Bet in some Islamic country? Some heads will roll (NOT) Imagine if is said Jesus Is The Light!
I told my wife about this a couple months ago, but she didn’t get to hear it on TV like I did. One day a week or two later she was filling out an application at target and overheard the workers behind the counter asking each other why this doll had been pulled from the shelf. They made it talk and my wife distinctly heard it say “Islam is the light,” even though she didn’t get to hear it when I told her the story originally. The employees also agreed that that is what it sounded like to them.
Toy companies should make absolutely certain that voice tracks are clearly audible.
It sounded like, ‘Islam is the light’ to me, question is, if the doll isn’t saying that, what is it saying ?
More disturbing is the reporter’s conclusion — so what if the doll says a pro-Islamic message, aren’t we a country of religious freedom? Gag.
“What he did not know is where it was made”
I demand to see its birth certificate!
iemand to see its birth certificate!
Turn me on, dead man. Turn me on, dead man. Turn me on, dead man. Turn me on, dead man. Turn me on, dead man. Turn me on, dead man.
That said, I wish I could've heard the doll without being tipped off to what it might be saying.
"That is very disturbing Ozzie".
Only if you want it too.
I think it pretty clearly says it, and I also think it’s obviously deliberate, given the way the doll abruptly shifts goes from a generic baby “cooing” sound into a distinct phrase.
MM
Except you have to play Ozzy backwards to hear it.
“My name is Talky Tina. And YOU’D better be NICE to me.”
It does sound like that’s what the doll says, but my guess is that it’s an eerie coincidence. Wasn’t there an Elmo doll that said “Who wants to die?” And weren’t people concerned about a Cookie Monster whose muffled “It’s time to truck!” sound like...something else?
All I hear is, “Math is hard!”
I can see how some people might think it says "Islam is the light," but, c'mon, my niece makes noises that sound similar. I'm not overly concerned about her being a Muslim.
No question. It goos or gahs a few times, and then it says:
“Islam . . . Islam is the light!”
And it doesn’t just say it, it chants it, especially the first “Islam”. I’d be curious if the rhythms and intonations roughly match one of the standard Muslim chants.
I heard “Palm is tight” “Mom is right” “Om is kite” .... goo goo goo is all I want to say to you
P.S., that’s in response to the YouTube video at the link in #10. That appears to be a fuller version than the one in the TV video, which just says “Islam is the light.” Presumably that was cut short by editing.
Good one.
Paul is a dead man. Miss him. Miss him.
I think it said “Obama is the light”.
I’m not sure it’s saying that. But in looking at other videos so I could see if the same sound came from multiple different dolls, I hit one where a guy had a teletubby that clearly said “faggot, faggot, bite my butt”.
Now that was scary.
Same dolls are being sold in Redlands CA. A mother who bought her 18mo old daughter the doll that appeared to be coo-ing and very cute in the store at the display. When the doll was brought home from the shelf of the toy store, a different verbal message had been compressed into its memory chips. It repeatedly says, “Islam is the Light”.
The mother asked if there was going to be a recall and Fisher-Price announced there would be no recall, but she could return the doll for her money back if she chose not to keep it.
Would they take the same stand if the doll quoted John 3:16?
I happened upon this doll in person and heard it first hand. I was shopping in Target and looking at another doll on the shelf next to these dolls.
Someone had activated several of the dolls, and when there was motion in front of them, they started talking. No mistake - they are saying “Islam is the light”. Only the black baby dolls were clearly saying this. The white baby dolls were making cooing sounds.
It does sound like that is what it is saying. If you didn’t even know about this story, but someone just made the doll talk and that came up, you’d pretty much think that was what it said.
