I have been privileged over the last twelve years to represent you in the United States Senate. These have been years of historical significance and global reorientation. An inventory of these times includes: an impeachment and trial of a U.S. President; an American presidential election decided by the Supreme Court; crossing over into the 21st century with an unprecedented attack on the United States on September 11, 2001; the historic changing of majorities in the U.S. Senate in the middle of a Congress; the U.S. invasion of two countries resulting in two of the longest wars in U.S. history (which are still ongoing after seven years); the greatest diffusion of global economic geopolitical power in the history of man; historic swings of stock market highs and lows resulting in the greatest global financial crisis since the Great Depression; record-setting U.S. budget deficits and debt; the first African American U.S. President; and many other historic developments, events and actions.

Dear senator hagel: SCOTUS did not "decide" the 2000 election; it stopped some lib idiots on the Florida Supreme Court from deciding it.

SCOTUS did not "decide" the 2000 election;

Exactly!

SCOTUS simply told the courts to validate the already LEGAL results (after three recounts all showed Bush the winner) and to stop dickering around with bogus challenges over dimpled chads and false claims of intimidation, etc.

The Democrats would have filed lawsuit after lawsuit knowing their 7-0 Democrat packed Fla Supreme Court would with-hold and approve every single one.

What is the problem with this? This guy has been a stellar Republican and a true American. I found him to be one of the only guys in the Senate with the balls to stand up to Cheney and Rumsfeld and call people to the carpet.

If the Supreme Court had not stopped the re re re re re recount, Bush still would have won.

Its a fact that absolutely drives the moonbats crazy and is backed up by every major media source including the NYTimes.

Is he retiring or did he lose a re-election bid? Sorry to appear ignorant, but I was out of the country during the elections.

This guy has been a stellar Republican and a true American.

If Hagel was your example of a Stellar Republican, I'm GLAD I changed to Independent. HAGEL made Teddy Kennedy sound MODERATE. Goodbye Chucky, go find yourself a small office somewhere, and go feed the LIBS in Nebraska your Anti Republican TRIPE.

it’s more than that..Judge Sauls ( democrat) had 7 points brought to him by the dems and all 7 were not won, period.

Davis Bouiss(sp) used fake prior cases as evidence and the Supremes stood on Saul’s findings

Chuck Hagel is a RINO turd floater that refuses to go down the commode.
I doubt he has the brains to wipe his rear end.

Every time Bush would propose something or when the democrats wanted something. That's when (Hagel) had the balls to stand up against the former and with the latter.

That strikes me as a fair assessment of Hagel's political career.

Hagel was much better at posturing than acting. And the usual targets of his posturing were Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.

Which makes one wonder why he ever considered himself a Republican. He wasn't remotely a conservative. Nor did he ever exhibit an iota of party loyalty. He apparently didn't have the guts to cross the aisle.

Instead, he preferred bootlicking the media, earning his 'face time' on network TV for criticizing his own party.
