Pakistani militants torch Humvees for western forces

By Faris Ali

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Hordes of Pakistani militants set on fire 96 trucks carrying Humvees and military vehicles for Western forces in Afghanistan in a raid in the northwestern city of Peshawar on Sunday, police said.

Security guards said they were overpowered by more than 200 militants who attacked two terminals on Peshawar's ring road, where trucks carrying Humvees and other military vehicles were parked.

"It happened at around 2.30 a.m.. They fired rockets, hurled hand grenades and then set ablaze 96 trucks," senior police officer, Azeem Khan, told Reuters.

Hope this isn't a double post... I did search.

This is written as if it is a simple act of vandalism practically. Of course that's expected from Reuters.

I think this will definitely be the next front on the war on terror. Luckily Obama will take care of it! Not!

Let’s hope hordes of pakistani militants end up dead, then. If pakistan can’t keep it’s hordes under control, then somebody in the US government needs to finally smell the coffee and realize that the paks are not our friends or ally.

It’s getting to be close to smack down time. We need to start coordinating with India to solve this problem once and for all.

Pakistan seems ripe for the old, Vietnam-style, pull-the-plug plan, hayna? Or no?

Paki is a sanctuary state, you cannot win a war ignoring that..UK military may (hard to tell) be reflecting that fact.,,you want us to die in Afgan yet the war stops at a border where the enemy is safe.

TERRORISTS OR DOCTORS?
So why are so many prominent Western media reluctant to call the perpetrators terrorists? Why did Jon Snow, one of Britain’s most respected TV journalists, use the word practitioners when referring to the Mumbai terrorists? Was he perhaps confusing them with doctors? Why did Reuters describe the motivation of the terrorists, which it preferred to call gunmen, as unknown? Were we meant to suppose that it might have been just anything — that to paraphrase Mark Steyn, they were perhaps disgruntled former employees of Lehman Bros embarking on an exciting midlife career change?

Again, why did Britain’s highly regarded Channel 4 News state that the militants showed a wanton disregard for race or creed when exactly the opposite was true: Targets and victims were very carefully selected.

Why are you so uptight about the use of the word? Even the U.S. military use the term. Why not write to the Pentagon to get them to change everything to terrorist. It isn’t going to happen! No use bumping your gums about media use if the military is using the term.

This kind of PC correctness coupled with the way the US military is running wars like police crime scenes is why I am steering all young men, my son included, away from military careers.

I am so white and conservative that I squeak. If I won’t encourage the military in my children, you can bet that recruiters will be in for a big surprise in the next five years.

why are we sending in military equipment through an hostile country in the first place? Was someone asleep at the switch?

I wonder if the average person that reads this story in usatoday (if they print it) realizes that’s, at the very least, $12,000,000 worth of US tax dollars in material alone.

We should send them $12,000,000 worth of hellfire missles, lit on one end.

I'm not worried.

When King, er, President Obama takes over he will threaten these militants with the "stick" of increased UN sanctions, just like he did today for Iran.

Or, instead, maybe he will go with the "carrot" of increased economic aid.

Whatever. President Barack Hussein Obama will have this under control shortly. Not to worry, folks!
