Sarah Palin cleared in Troopergate probe
Times Online ^ | November 4, 2008 | Times Online

Sarah Palin has been cleared of abusing her office in the "Troopergate" case by a state personnel board, which over-turned the findings of an earlier probe by the state legislator. The investigation into the dismissal of the state's public safety commissioner found that the Alaskan governor had not abused the power of her office by firing Walt Monegan. It also cleared her from ethics violations in respect to her dealings regarding Michael Wooten, the state trooper involved in a contentious divorce and custody battle with her sister. The report, released the day before the US presidential elections, concluded there was "no probable cause" that the Republican vice presidential candidate had violated the state's executive ethics act in dismissing Mr Monegan. Last month an investigation commissioned by the state legislature found Mrs Palin had violated ethics rules when she dismissed Mr Monegan in July, allegedly because he refused to fire Mr Wooten. Related Links * Palin dismisses criticism at second hearing * Palin husband files revealed * Republicans escalate challenge to Troopergate The legislature's inquiry, carried out by a special counsel, found that while she was within her rights as Alaska governor to dismiss Monegan, she had breached ethics rules by allowing her husband to badger officials into firing Mr Wooten. Mrs Palin requested the second investigation be conducted by the state personnel board after alleging the legislature's probe was politically motivated. The board's report, posted on the Anchorage Daily News website, said that "absent from the evidence reviewed is any assertion that the Governor directed anyone in the Department of Public Safety to terminate Trooper Wooten, or directed anyone on her staff to seek the termination of Trooper Wooten."

Old news—which was still not covered by the msm. The libs and the good ole boy “conservatives” are really afraid of what havoc Sarah could cause next time around.

This news has been out for a while, but it came too late to help Governor Palin shake off the smears that French and Branchflower hurled at her at Obama's behest.

Personally, I hope she comes down on those two like one of Odin's valkyries.

The AP had a totally different headline on that one when it happened, whereby the headline implied Gov Plain had been found guilty. Of course Yahoo and Google led with the false AP headline as usual.
Guys, the AP and the liberal media are the greatest threat to the well being of this country.

Perhaps 0bama's AG, Eric Holder, can get her indicted for for being a revolutionary Republican and have her swing on the same gallows as the "Compasionate Conservative" & Co.

Well have some fun then. ;)

I was unaware that the legislative branch of government in Alaska consists of a single legislator.

Obama is going to “abuse his power” by firing ppl from the government the first moment he get into office. Anyone want to make a scandal out of it?

How dare he fire Bush appointees! Thats an abuse of power and firing ppl for political reasons! This has never happened before!

Good! Now let's go after the a**hole from the Legislature that brought the false charges.

Charge him, convict him, and run him out of the state!

Notice they fail to use her title, ‘Governor’. Not surprising, considering the source.

I’m with you my friend. I think the GOP has been coopted by demrats. The GOP should acknowledge that fact by melding into the demrat party. It is no longer an opposition party therefore it serves no useful function. Right now America is a one party country and that is dangerous.

A second opposition party needs to be formed or evolved from a conservative party that already exists. It’s the only way to save the Constitution and what made America great.

The Democratic and Republican Parties have become merely opposite wings of the same bird, and it’s the American people who are getting the bird as our elected officials serve their corporate masters and the special interest groups that dominate both parties.

Just this morning my wife had on nbc 10 on the tv. They had big news that Sarah Palin's wardrobe was actually more than first stated by the republicans!!! It turns out the final number was 6,000 more than reported originally to clothe her and her family. I wonder if a grand jury is necessary to look into this.

Meantime, 0bama raised 3/4 of a billion dollars from the "litlle guys".

This should get the prominent news coverage that the original allegations received.

But no, the MSM is more concerned about her daughter’s sex life. Oh my gosh, her daughter got pregnant without a husband, tsk tsk. And do we know who the real mother of Sarah’s baby is — I don’t think the MSM drove that story into the ground yet.

I’m still steamed at the N.Y. Times, about the Sarah Palin baby and daughter pregnancy stories. I still can’t believe, that they way they talk about journalistic ethics and values, that they ran those stories. Their “source” for their front-page stories were half-assed bloggers spouting stream of consciouness nonsense on liberal blog sites. What the heck ever happened to fact checking and editing? I guess though, if something appears on a DU or Daily Kos type blog, it is gospel truth. So of course they went with those stories.
