Thanks for the update. As I said, it’s something like 40 years for me.
Watched a couple of the original movies recently with my girls, who were absolutely appalled, and that may have colored my reflections.
The Tarzan books were decidedly anti-racist. The most recent one I read had an interracial relationship between an American and an African princess and described the black princess as smart, noble, and lovely.
And I cannot recommend “A Princess of Mars” by Edgar Rice Burroughs highly enough.
If you define 'successful' as material wealth, there is the irony of rising expectations. The more material wealth we have, the fewer children we seem to be able to afford.
Upper class and successful people often had larger familes and due to better nutrition and medical care more of their children survived.
I am not sure that is true. The 'poor' had plenty of kids back then too.

OTOH, Zane Grey, another popular writer at roughly the same time, actually was a racist and wrote some novels which are disorienting for a modern reader, as the good guys and bad guys and the way their motivations are portrayed are backwards from our perspective.
I’ve also always enjoyed reading the classical writers such as Plutarch. They take slavery and hierarchy among humans so for granted they don’t even bother to explain why they support them. In Plutarch Spartacus is the blackest of villains for leading a slave rebellion, while from our POV he was at least arguably a hero.
The left will simply dismiss all of this off-hand. They are not interested in the truth, they are interested only in what they want to hear.
The eugenicists will succeed in destroying countless lives: the unborn, the infants, and whole families. There is absolutely no chance for human beings to stop them. We like to think that we won WWII but the truth is we lost the war before it even started. Evil runs triumphant and roughshod over the land. Things are about to get even worse in the days to come. It would take nothing less than a divine miracle to save the world.
Unfortunately, her legacy lives on in every selfish leftist in this country. Evil never dies but good and beautiful things are often utterly destroyed.
