I recently heard a report on weapon sales.

The report stated that in October and November of 2007 there were about 800,000 and 1,000,000 million FBI checks for NEW gun purchases. In 2008 for the same months the numbers were 1 million and 1.5 million.

This is a situation I don't understand. WHO would we be defending from? Think about after Katrina and New Orleans. The deputies came and took the guns, whether they were registered or not (some got some nice weapons out of that deal as I'm sure the original owners didn't get them back).

If a deputy came to your house, and you refused to turn over your weapon, if he didn't kill you, he would call a SWAT team. If they didn't kill you (unlikely), they would turn it over to the next level of defense (federal probably), who would bump it up and up until you had the tanks, etc. in your front yard.

Could you shoot a deputy (possibly a friend or neighbor) who came to take your gun? I couldn't. Same thing all the way up the ladder. We would be shooting at friends and neighbors, and the federal government has far more fire power than we do.

I'm not trying to be a smart(alec), but I really don't understand this.
