The McClatchy Co., burdened by debt and a steep slide in newspaper advertising, wants to sell one of its most prized properties, The Miami Herald, according to people briefed on the company's plans.
McClatchy, the nation's third-largest newspaper chain, has approached potential buyers for The Herald, said these people. But they said they knew of no serious offers for the paper, reflecting the evaporation of major investors' interest in buying newspapers.
The company refused to discuss the matter. Elaine Lintecum, the treasurer, said, "We do not comment on market rumors."

Figures. Innocent & decent people they trash while corrupt politicians and other crooks get a free pass. Miami Hearld dying along with the Scum Slantinel just up the road.
Two lib, pro-illegal, pro-diversity, DNC propaganda tabloids. The sooner they die, the more trees saved.
“Better Red than Read; whoops, we’re Dead”
LOL! The even bigger joke is newspaper have a HUGE “carbon footprint.” They use trucks to move the papers around. Delivery people drive around in their cars delivery them. Trees, ink, electricty to run the presses. Paper mills that use bleach and other toxic chemicals. The sooner they die the better.
Anymore the only good one is Investors Business Daily and maybe the Daily Mail in the UK and sometimes the UK Telegraph. Wall Street Journal is now trash thanks to “conservative” Murdoch who showed us a month before the election that Fox News is the new CNN and MSNBC-lite.
Are there any Fortune 500 net-tax paying corporations in the great Miami Dade metroplex at this point?
AutoNation, Ryder System, and Lennar. others?
AutoNation is the largest car dealership group in Miami area. And is partially controlled by Bill Gates now. Doesn’t look like the Miami Herald will be getting increased autos classifieds revenue at any point in the future.
Sure wish they would put the Anchorage Daily Worker up for sale. I miss reading a paper.
Post of the Day!!!
But they said they knew of no serious offers for the paper, reflecting the evaporation of major investors' interest in buying newspapers.
Whew... What kind of sucker would want to purchase a newspaper? It would be like buying a slide-rule factory. I would rather see this toilet tissue just kick a few times and die. These Democrat newsrooms and their party have done enough damage to my country, thank you.
Funny!!!!! LOL
I wish Rush would buy this paper.
His editorials would be a hoot!!
Yeah! I’m sure he’ll have a monologue about the possibilities today!
All I can say about this paper going under is “LOL”, Good riddance. Now how many more newspapers do we have to get rid of?
