(ABC 6 NEWS) -- We're nearing the end of the historic Senate recount between Senator Norm Coleman and challenger Al Franken.
Election officials are now turning their focus to the absentee ballots.
Starting this morning, volunteers will begin to count how many absentee ballots were wrongly rejected due to an administrative error. Then it will be up the state canvassing board to decide whether or not to include those ballots into the recount.
The board is scheduled to meet on Friday.
For the moment, Coleman leads Franken by 687 votes.
"The Canvassing Board initially disqualified a few thousand absentee ballots for various reasons. Now Secretary of State Ritchie has requested that the counties re-evaluate them, as he estimates 500 to 1,000 of them were disqualified by accident. If so, they will have to be counted and its estimated that Franken would net anywhere from 25 to 100 votes during that process."
How can they be so sure there's going to be a Franken win? But the real question is: has the Democratic machine in Minnesota manufactured enough votes for Al Frankin, or is still the loser?
When will this end?....When Al Franken pulls the winning vote out of his ass?.....Inquiring minds want to know.
FTA “ then it will be up to the state canvassing board to decide whether or not to include those ballots into the recount.”
Well that’s an easy decision for them....Make them all for Franken and then they will all count.
Calling Captian Obvious!
The article basically says that even if they ARE counted that Franken wwill only add 25 to 100 votes which means he still loses by almost 600 votes.
Or that Franken would get from 25 to 100 net votes, on a county-by county base. Eg 25 + 37 +100 +....
I can’t wait to see the tantrum that Frickin Frankin throws when he finally realizes he has lost. it will probably be the first time he has been truely funny.
Well, at least if they are counted and he still loses, he won’t have this issue as an item on an appeal.
Hopefully he wil be down for the count. How about a knockout?
“he estimates 500 to 1,000 of them were disqualified by accident. If so, they will have to be counted and its estimated that Franken would net anywhere from 25 to 100 votes during that process.”
This article says that Coleman leads by almost 700 votes. I thought when the official recount ended Friday that is was only 200 and something votes?
Many Minnesotans who voted for that worthless pig Franken, previously voted for Jesse Ventura... They will never learn.
Too bad, Al. You should’ve run for president instead.
I was thinking the same thing. It's going to be hilarious. He'll do an Al Gore afterwords ... disappears for a few months and comes back looking like Bigfoot.
Obama needs to create a position for him. Confidential Assistant to the President for Insight into the Moonbat Left, or something like that.
I’d pay good money just to be present and see that. ;)
OH me too and about a million people here on the forum. someone will get it on tape.
OK, assume these are allowed and Franken still loses by about 600 votes. Does any sane person really expect it to end there? New "issues" will be manufactured until Franken gets just enough "votes" to push him over the top, and then they'll be done.
Consider this. The nonpartisan (actually multipartisan) canvassing board originally had declined to consider them. Now that they know that they will have no effect on the outcome, they can include them to shut Franken up. He will have nothing left to complain about.
Whether he is declared winner, is a whole different thing.
The Gregoiring continues.
Read the results from the Sec. of State,Minn. With 99.93% of recount complete,Coleman is leading by 710 votes.
Despite what you read in the very liberal Star Tribune that states that Coleman leads by only 190,or what Franken says.
U.S. Senate cannot change a certified count. The U.S.cannot arbitraily change a vote that is based speculation. Will not happen.
Agreed. And I’m not so much worried about that as the Senate ordering a re-vote. They have done that before.
Are you referring to an election for U.S. Senate in Missouri where the nominee died before Election day?
I guess that’s a precedent.but a very flawed one.
So they think. A leftist is never satisfied until his political ends are achieved.
The canvassing board is made up of four judges including two state supremes that are republican. They know what they are doing.
Star Tribune is 100% of the precincts, as opposed to the SoS.
The difference is in the precinct with the “lost” 133 ballots.
The official SoS doesn’t count *any* of the votes *yet* from that precinct, as the Star did.
If you think they know what they’re doing, then I’m sure they don’t.
We'll see. Remember, Pawlenty is Governor.
I understand their reasoning; to disarm the irrational protest of the Franken camp. But, this process should not be subject to the whims of the players. There was a reason that the ballots and applications were rejected. To say that they will be reviewed and possibly allowed to count because the losing candidate is kicking and screaming is a poke in the eye to the rational, objective process that voting should be. What other rule can be subjectively bent to benefit one candidate or the other?
I'm beginning to think the only way to beat ACORN is to have a revote if either candidate doesn't reach 50%.
Sec. of State with 99.98% votes tallied gives Coleman 715 votes.133 votes won’t change anything. Star Tribune doesn’t know what it’s talking about.
