MNSBC: Blago, Shmago--Leno's Moving to 10 PM!
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/09/2008 10:45:24 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Sure, the sitting Democratic governor of Illinois has been arrested and charged with attempting to sell Barack Obama's Senate. But enough about that. Jay Leno is starting his show 90 minutes earlier!!

Yes, a bit after 1 PM today, MSNBC actually interrupted its coverage of the Blago affair to go to a news conference at which NBC honchos, with Leno present, announced that the Tonight show host would be moving from 11:30 to 10 PM.

Andrea Mitchell was in the midst of a serious dialogue with Pete Williams, when someone apparently whispered in the NBC justice correspondent's ear . . .

A CONFIDENTIAL SOURCE told me what was whispered in Andrea's ear:

"Andrea, Blago's a Democrat! Next story."

I really like Leno. I think he is the fairest of all of them. Yes he does comedy but that is his job. The thing I don’t like is when folks say they are retiring and then come up with something like this which the majority of the time ends up a disaster. Why would he want to ruin his reputation??? He surely does not need the money and I thought he was quitting Tonight Show because he promised his wife he would retire before 60 years old...something odd going on.

It's more about NBC trimming/shortening their broadcast schedule to save money, than anything else.

Of course they'll have to spin it otherwise.

I’ve never watched Jay Leno except for when I happen to see him on a show related to automobiles I might stumble across.

I’m glad that PMSNBC shows its devotion to “hard news” — this is exhibit one for why they should be regarded as tabloid trash.

This will be the demise of Old Hatchetface Jay Leno.

The brass at NBC must all be on cocaine. They are making some pretty ditzy decisions lately. All their brains (what’s not fried of them) are addled.

My favorite show at that hour is MY Nine News from New Jersey. It’s a laff a minute...more then I’d ever get from Jawbone-of-an-Ass Jay.

Yep, he can’t just stay one-sided. If he does that then he drops down to the level of Bill Maher et al. Leno is BIG LEAGUES.

Heck, I never watch Tonight Show but I love Leno simply because he is a walking encyclopedia on vintage cars.

The clip is bizzare.

After Andrea makes some comment about the 17th Ammendment (I am still not sure about the relevancy of this), Pete Williams makes it his first point to note that there are no signs that Obama had any involvement.

In the middle of making a second point, not even being allowed to finish the second point, they cut to a relatively unimportant part of the Leno announcement.

Politics aside, its just simply really bad directing.

Politics considered, its just the most jaw droppingly incredible example of liberal bias that I’ve seen this year...even beating out the “tingle up my leg” comment by Chris Matthews.

Anyone want to take any bets that Leno and Letterman will be slamming the Muslim Messiah every night like they did Bush?????? They’re especially fond of trashing Republicans and “never” Liberals like themselves.

“The thing I don’t like is when folks say they are retiring and then come up with something like this”
Leno never said he was retiring. He was being forced out.

Zucker of NBC promised OBrien the Tonight Show - trying to go for a more youthful audience. Leno’s contract expires in May 2009. Leno has been zinging Zucker for years, and openly talking about NOT retiring and defecting to other networks.

Zucker doesn’t want NBC to lose Leno so has given him this 10PM slot. Leno must have exacted a pretty price for staying with NBC. Leno would be free of his NBC contract in Jan. 2010.

Poor Andrea Mitchell. She’s afraid of the terrifying Balloon-Gate that happened at the GOP Convention when Judy Woodruff was buried under a mountain of balloons.

Watch. They’ll soon interrupt these things on Blajojevich and Obama by cutting to SNL clips beating up on Palin and possibly McCain.
