President-elect Barack Obama says he is saddened by allegations that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich tried to trade favors for Obama's Senate seat -- and says he had no contact with the governor or his office on the matter.
The governor was arrested Tuesday on federal corruption charges. Prosecutors say Blagojevich wanted to give Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder.

Sean played Obama tape where he said he had no contact with the Governor or his office and was not aware of what was going on. But Sean has a video of Alxelrod saying in answer to the question: Do you know who the Governor might pick to take Obama’s senate seat? Alxelrod said “No, but I know he as talked with the Governor and names were mentioned......”. Nice!!
Sean said maybe he should send these tapes to Fritzgerald!

Hannity just played a clip of axelrod from a couple weeks ago stating that obama had spoken with the governer about the open senate seat.
" I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again: I did not have any relations with that man, Mr. Blagojevich. I never told anybody to buy my Senate seat, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the hope of the change."
Blagovich? Blagovich??? Never heard of 'm.

Why should Fitzgerald care? He was told who “outed” Plame very early into the investigation and still managed to trap Libby on a bogus charge.

Yes, and sure there are other Freepers here who were listening to Sean and heard it all. Sean played the two tapes twice. It is very clear that Alxelrod and Obama need to get their stories straight. But then when Alzelrod said that on TV was a while back when talk about who would take Obama’s senate seat was in the news. :)

One example. It is the first time jurors heard an accusation that Rezko worked behind the scenes to oust Fitzgerald.
Another Maloof left the stand without ever invoking Barack Obama's name, despite previous allegations by prosecutors that he made a straw donation for Rezko to Obama's Senatorial campaign fund. It is clear that lawyers -- and the judge -- have been careful not to bring Obama's name into case, even outside the presence of the jury.

Additional spin: Define "contact". Maybe not one-on-one but the appointment of Barry's replacement was certainly discussed through surrogates at least. Look at the full complaint - it certainly leads one to believe, based on Blago's own words, that there was some form of communication on the matter.
It sure is nice to have Obama issuing denials that he made financial dealings with someone who was just indicted. Remember how Whitewater crippled Clinton’s first term? We may well be seeing the exact same thing again. When you rise from the gutter, the gutter trash who pushed you up can always drag you down.
Already the sleaze is oozing from “The One”. When he said he would have the most ethical administration ever...I guess he means every word of it!
I want to see the stunned looks on the faces of Andrea Mitchell, Gwen Ifill, Charlie Gibson, Keith Olbermann, Brian Williams, the overnight news crews, Nightline, Judy Woodruff and the rest of the PBS staff if their messiah goes down on this one.
