Another terrorist attack could hit the United States in the next five years — and North Texas could be a key target next time.
By 2013, the U.S. “more likely than not” could be hit by another deadly attack, this time using something possibly like anthrax, according to the new report, World at Risk.
And some fear that North Texas, with its population, sports and entertainment venues and businesses — not to mention the fact that President George W. Bush is moving back here after he leaves office in January — could be a target next time.
“Everybody should be concerned,” said Danny Defenbaugh, a former special agent in charge for the FBI in North Texas. “In Dallas-Fort Worth, this is the Metroplex. That should be reason for concern.”

Wasn’t Texas a target last time? Except for the quick FAA grounding of all flights on 9-11 there would have been more targets - in Chicago, Texas and on west coast?

North Texas is a *terrible* target, save for the occasional sporting event. The population density isn’t anywhere near what you *really* want for secondary and tertiary infections.

No, I don’t buy this. With Bush OUT of the WH they won’t care. They know Obama is a weakling. They want a MAJOR city. They LIKE symbolism. North Texas won’t offer up enough dead bodies for them.
Not that I remember reading about. We don’t have any buildings with a “world profile” here.

Gimme a break. There is ONE MAIN TARGET our opponents are focusing on - NYC. There may be supplementary other ones, but that’s the one that could cripple us the most when hit.
I like to hope that if the “DC sniper” had tried his thing in Texas that somebody would’ve eventually stuck a deer tag on his ear.

I don’t know that that has to be a hope. Remember the *enormous* manhunts and volunteer posses that formed after the Texas Seven escaped and killed Officer Hawkins?

Any ex-President will always be a target of terrorists for the symbolic value. But, having seen the Secret Service in operation around DC, I don't think there is any terrorist group with the ability to get the President or an ex-President, unless they get very lucky.
I think the next round of terrorism in this country will be focused on less-prepared second-tier cities. Unless the terrorists can get their hands on a nuke (unlikely) theyy're better off hitting soft targets in a place like Wilmington, DE or Des Moines, where the police forces aren't as ready to deal with terrorism as the NYPD or LAPD.
Based on what I know of Texans, they give much better than they get in a fight (wish I could say the same about the state I live in). “Don’t mess with Texas” isn’t just a cute slogan Muhammad.
Um... most of the oil companies are in Houston, not Dallas. The only one that’s here (and they don’t exactly have a high profile building for their HQ) is ExxonMobil.
