SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- California's utilities, refineries and large factories must transform their operations to cut greenhouse gas emissions as part of a new climate plan before state regulators.

On Thursday, the California Air Resources Board was expected to adopt what would be the nation's most sweeping global warming plan, outlining for the first time how individuals and businesses would meet a landmark 2006 law that made the state a leader on global climate change.

It would hold California's worst polluters accountable for the heat-trapping emissions they produce _ transforming how people travel, utilities generate power and businesses use electricity.

At the heart of the plan is the future creation of a carbon-credit market designed to give the state's major polluters cheaper ways to cut emissions.

If adopted, the plan would set clear strategies for how the country's most populous state plans to cut emissions at a time many governments around the world are struggling with a financial crisis that threatens

Wow! Not one lawmaker in California understands how they have contributed to the mess they are in? It’s just unbelievable. Really.

Sacramento as a requirement now that when you get elected and go there, you have to leave your brain at home.

This of course assumes a politician has a brain in the first place

Aw shucks............you can’t blame them to much. They just like to spend money. The State never was good at looking at what is important. They will just use this to obtain more tax money.

California Set to Adopt Sweeping Global Warming Plan

California is also set to go bankrupt, but I suppose that a realization of such a reality is beyond the mental capabilities of most of California's elected officials.

I wish California would secede from the rest of the USA.

It is so foreign it deserves to be it's own country.

Oh, they understand - they just can't afford to be honest with their voters. They'll keep blaming Republicans/racists/homophobes/polluters/Big Oil until there is no one left to blame.

Arnold's trouble has been that he doesn't understand that his job is to be the clear voice that focuses public criticism and anger upon the inept and corrupt state legislature. He doesn't want to do that because his career in Hollywood has trained him to try to please everybody. Star power isn't enough if you aren't willing to crack some heads when necessary, as Ronald Reagan used to do. Arnold's nice-guy routine has ultimately made him a bigger failure than Gray Davis.

They’ll blame the collapse on a failure of uncontrolled capitalism.

Dear Californian looking to move,
Texas is a hot hell hole filled with bitter clingers holding on to their guns while driving wildly on highways, shooting up the place. There are 10 to 20 gun fights a day for every square mile in Texas. There are 10 bibles for every citizen here (required). Tofu is illegal here in Texas. Butt-%$#ing at bus stops are also illegal.

The only reason I live here is that it is a penance for all of my past sins.

Please, do yourself a favor and DON'T move to Texas.

CA is also having a cold snap. Could be a 50 year low coming up.
The stark reality is,,even with a tax increase and budget cuts the state will go broke. People won’t pay more taxes.
If they raise the tax on auto registration people will stop buying new cars. When the tax was high before people took great pride in their 10 year old cars with little annual registration fee. More tradesmen will work for cash and even Professionals will do it more. Realestate will fall even more as taxpayers move out and the death spiral will continue.

The depressed state of Kalifornia has finally decided to put the gun in it's mouth. This should finish off the Libtard bastion once and for all. The inevitable outcome of Marxism in all of it's guises.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

They actually will! That is possibly the worst part, it is Ayn Rand’s worst nightmare coming true. As the nation slides into hell on Earth caused by insane, anti-fredom, anti-capitalist, collectivist policies the people who caused all this will blame it on “free market capitalism”, something which has not actually existed in this country for...I leave it to someone more knowledgeable to say but it has been a long, long time.
