CHICAGO – President-elect Barack Obama said Thursday that he's confident no member of his staff was involved in discussing deals for his Senate seat with disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Obama also said once again that he had no discussions about the seat he is vacating with the Democratic governor, who was arrested by federal agents this week in connection with an alleged corruption scheme. "I was as appalled and disappointed as anyone," Obama said at a news conference called to announce a series of new appointments to the administration he is setting up. "I have never spoken to the governor on this subject," he said. "I am confident that no representative of mine" would have taken part in any such discussions, he added. He said "I think the public trust has been violated" and said he did not think that the governor "at this point can effectively serve Illinois.

It is obvious that Gov Blog said he talked to an Obama man about the deal and called Obama a FXXx name because Obama wouldn’t give him anything but appreciation for appointing Obama’s choice. Well some are saying that shows Obama was not willing to offer a bribe - but the question is - why didn’t Obama report this attempted effort to get money out of him to the FBI? That is why he has to insist none of his people talked to Blog - so Blog is just making it up when he talks this way?? I think you are right it will come out that one of Obama’s people did talk to Blog and then when he ‘learns of it’ he will say that person was not authorized - denying knowledge of it all - so the only way to pin this slippery eel down is to get the person who did talk to Blog to squeal - watch for that person to disappear.

I’m having Clinton flashbacks!....
He ducked the question about whether his staff members had discussed the seat with Blago (answered that no one on his staff made any kind of deal) and he also ducked the question about how Blago would have gotten the impression that Obama wasn’t going to make a deal (answered that he couldn’t begin to get into Blago’s mind and understand what he was thinking).
Obama said today that neither he nor anyone on his staff had been contacted by investigators. Then that means that neither Obama nor his staff reported the attempted deal making of Blago.
This signals to me that the Obama team did NOT know the phone calls were being recorded and thought they could just let the conversation slide and not say anything.
Whoever was designated to talk to Blago about this better get a lawyer pronto, because he/she is about to become the fall guy. Obama will say that he was never advised about the deal conversation. He’ll insulate himself and some lowly staffer will take the fall. How many Clintonites fell on their swords to protect Clinton? It will be the same with Obama.
When does the FOO (Friends of Obama) list begin? I still review the FOB body count from time to time.
If this had been a Republican, Arlen Specter would be calling for Senate hearings.
