Roger Kimball may have tagged it first: The real news out of Chicago this week wasn't Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's arrest on cartoonishly lurid charges of corruption stemming from his alleged attempts to sell President-elect Barack Obama's now-vacant U.S. Senate seat. The real news out of Chicago this week was that President-elect Barack Obama had nothing to do with it.
And I mean nothing to do with any of it. There was an almost comical aspect to the spectacle of journalists across the mainstream media (MSM) suddenly, as if on command, assuming pretzel positions in a contortionist's effort not to seem at all curious, for instance, about the discrepancy between David Axelrod's recent declaration that the president-elect had discussed Senate-seat replacements with Blagojevich, and Obama's more recent declaration that he had done no such thing.
The MSM instantly agreed: Obama had nothing to do with it. Such a message took Obama out of the story even before the story itself was clear.
This mantra, this strategy should be familiar by now. Whether it is Jeremiah "G -- d -- - America" Wright, William "We didn't do enough" Ayers, or now, Rod "F -- - him" Blagojevich, Obama is never a player, never even a responsible presence in controversies involving associates past and present. In the media-filtered version of events, he's just not even there. But in no story is what we may one day come to think of as Obama's invisible man-hood more obvious than in the still-roiling controversy over Obama's birth certificate.

Even the FBI wants nothing to do with it...

They dynamics of the situation in the 1770s was far different than what they are now. For one thing, England didn’t necessarily have maximum ability to get all the troops over here that they might have, otherwise.
Secondly, the Patriots were fighting on their own land and England was viewed as a controlling entity and government far away.
Thirdly, the “military hardware” was far different then and it wasn’t as “mismatched” as it would be today.
So, in this case, we do have the mechanisms, politically, to enact changes that the population wants. Now, if we end up being in a “minority” position, politically — it’s still a viable result, since it is being done through the mechanisms of exercising our political rights.
The military hardware right now is *vastly mismatched* for any kind of armed revolution that anyone would propose against our government. That would never work. An armed revolution simply is not in the cards — against our own government. That would never work.
There is only one solution and that is to work politically within the system...
Well we don’t know for sure what his parents named him at birth but the Certificate of Live Birth lists him as Barack Hussein Obama II. Since Barack Hussein Obama was the name of his father then Obama should be Junior, not II. If his grandfather were named Barack Hussein Obama and his father had a different name then he could be II.
The long-time employees of the protocol office of the White House are going to be tearing their hair out. Somebody should give these vulgarians an etiquette book so they learn about Jr. versus II, what fork to use at dinner and why one doesn’t dress a child in a black dress.

As sort of an extended ping for this thread, here is my crackpot theory of the birth announcement in the Hawaiian newspaper that the world regards as proof that Obama was born in Hawaii:
Obama's mother gives birth in Kenya. She phones her mother in Hawaii after the delivery. (Daughters do occasionally telephone their mothers in this circumstance.) Madelyn Dunham proudly places the birth notice in the local paper.
