100 Years ago? Check your history. And it’s still illegal to be a Catholic priest there today, though they may not be enforcing it at the moment.
“She is not nude.”
She ain’t the Virgin Mary either.
You haven’t been here long enough to know that FR is known for pushing the envelope.
Get used to it. It’s one of the things that makes the site great.
Saw the original post, with picture (picture was more tasteful that SI Swimsuits - but calling it the Virgin Mary was tasteless), before it was pulled. I didn’t know silicone was available then...
I don't believe it's the Virgin Mary. Heck, I'd be surprised if that girl's a virgin at all.
Fine.
This won’t take a moment, I’m posting up a nude picture of Sarah Palin. That pushing the envelope enough for you?
It was in the 1920s the Mexican Government was killing Nuns and Priests trying to impose a Marxist State. The Cristos War ended in a failure. Mexico IS Catholic and will always be.
The picture of the cover was directly related to the story.
Playboy isn’t a porn mag.
It is clear from Papal infallibility that Mary was perpetually clothed!
The girl on the cover isn’t nude. It was covered up.
Madonna performing `Like A Virgin’ followed by headliner Pope Benedicts’s rendition of `Only a Gigolo’?
If they had any cajones they’d put Mohammed on a bearskin rug on their cover.
Never happen . . .
I don’t speak Spanish; therefore, I cannot translate the words on the cover referring to the model on the cover. Does the word “Virgin” appear there? Could it be the model’s name is “Maria” or “Mary” and that readers will “adore” her once they see the nekkid pictures inside? I can readily see that inferences might be drawn to the Virgin Mary but is this a case of jumping to conclusions? By the way, is the stained glass supposed to be symbolic of something as well?
For the record, I think this is in terribly bad taste and blasphemous if indeed it is a reference to the true Virgin Mary.
Look, friend... there are certain things OFF LIMITS. Lewd illustrations “suggestive” of the Virgin Mary IS one of that catagory. If it were not so, then the mod would not have pulled the image, per my request. Such provocation will start a war here on FR... I hope you realize that.
Playboy is trying to drum up some publicity for their magazine (which is not profitable- it's basically a loss-leader for Playboy's other ventures). Posting a fake picture of the Virgin Mary, in a Catholic country, is going to get a lot of responses. They're trying to get people's goat, and you fell for it.
Its headline reads in Spanish: "We adore you, Mary."
