Is Obama's tendency to conceal the truth hanging Emmanuel out to dry?
According to the FBI report, Obama would not cooperate in a quid pro quo with Blago for Obama's old Senate seat. Any reasonable person would know that in order for a bribe to be rejected, it must first be offered. And, who on Earth would believe Team Obama would have zero contact with the governor since the election, when this is someone who both he and Rahm knew well and campaigned for?
If Obama had said, "he offered, we rejected", would there have been legal (not political) implications for not blowing the whistle? Or, is there something else they could be hiding?
spell-check: ^Emanuel
The spin is that Jagovolbitch was so angry at Obama because they offered him nothing - ovelooking that the anger was probably about being offered something then having it retracted...
IMHO, Rahm was the one who said this ... “The president-elect can get Blagojevich’s wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect’s pick to the Senate.”
And Obama is the one who told him to say it.
“Is Emmanuel covering for Obama’s stupidity?”
Bank on it. Someone is going to take the fall for this mess, and it won’t be the new ‘Mr. “I Hate America” President’.
That would take a LOT of covering
Or, is there something else they could be hiding?...
This would be a criminal proceeding. If Obama had to testify, I imagine birth records could be subpoenaed to determine if he was eligible to be president.
“who on Earth”
NOT ME!
Knowing that Blago was requiring cash for the seat, and not reporting that graft to the FBI, is probably illegal.
I’ll bet the Obamanaughts have a legal obligation to report incipient corruption, which they failed to do.
Nope. He'd just be a witness. The only thing that one side or the other can do with a witness (besides asking questions) is to attack his/her credibility or professional credentials (where the person is an expert witness). Nothing could be done here.
Some say "yes", that you have to report a serious crime rather than just not participate. I'm not sure what the situation is with a refused bribe. Modern life sure is complicated.
I think it more closely resembles Godfather I, II and III.
Nothing complicated about this. If Zero saw a crime going down and failed to report, that is a crime in and of itself. There have been a few threads about that these past few days.
Part of the plan is to manuever the MSM to report this instead of all the other lawsuits in regards to his citizenship status.
lies all lies/sarc
...like a one eyed cat watching 5 rat holes
Emanuel was chosen as Obama’s Chief of Staff within a few days of the election and now it comes out that Emanuel was up to his neck in the cesspool even after he was selected. There is NO WAY that Obama can claim that HIS RIGHT HAND MAN was not involved.
Obama is warming up the bus.
Misprision of felony
Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
They NEVER report reality, only on live events for the first moments when they MSM have no control over the message.
He is only doing his New Socialist duty to protect the integrity and infallibility of The One (piss be upon him).
Excellent points. Thanks.
True, and the governor was mad because team Obama was insisting on a two year waiting period for the payoff and/or third party funding so as to not leave any fingerprints or look too obvious. Fitzgerald has them and I wonder what is on the three weeks of taping that were withheld...
As a lawyer he is an "officer of the court", failing to report a conspiracy would be a breach of legal ethics which could lead to disbarment, no?

Like Whitewater haunted the Clintons; through two terms as President and a very lucrative speaking career.
Yes. I think you are correct. Rahm is the type to do the dirty work and the bidding of his masters. Zero’s in this up to his kenyan elephant ears, and if Blago feels like he is being hung out to dry, I hope he sings loud and long!
I wish Fitz had the guts to indict Emmanuel and O.
This is a huge problem for the little squirrel.
I am believing that Emanuel snitched to the Feds once Blago folks informed him that a bribe/deal would have to be made.
That is why Rahm The Silent is maintaining his low profile and has gotten death threats. Fitzgerald told him he cannot reveal his actions or that he is an informant - yeh, that’s it - an informant.
I guess “snitch” is too harsh for a Democrat - he performed a civic duty by calling Fitzgerald directly to inform him of the transgression. Of course, his contacts within Justice/the FBI had told him that Blago’s telephone conversations were being taped.
No source - just a hunch of mine.
The funny thing is, this Emmanuel story broke last night, all day conservatives have been pinning this thing on Obama/Rahm and all we get from them soo far is silence. Usually they are on top of “correcting” the story, but now its all silence, hmm very fishy.
Get the McDugal suite ready for Rahm.
Neil Cavuto had a statement around 4:45 PM from the BO camp to the effect that Rahm Emmanuel was not a target in this complaint and that RE will serve as Obama’s Chief of Staff.
That was it. The silence was broken.
I don't think so. Either the Obama team is very good at feigning surprise or else they were actually surprised at the arrest of Blago and Harris. They acted shell shocked.
There were three weeks of taped phone calls after the cut off date of the current complaint, Nov. 13. In the days leading up to Nov. 13, Blago was insistent on getting information to Valerie Jarrett and the Pres.-Elect Advisor (Emmanuel) about the creation of a 501(c)(4) which Blago would head.
Did Jarrett and Emmanuel get that information? How did they respond? Is their response on the wiretaps which occurred in the 3 weeks after Nov. 13?
Obama said yesterday he was going to do an investigation within his staff to find out who had contact with Blago about the Senate seat and what the contact was and get that information out? We'll see what they come up with?
or being told shut up for two years because the President elect would not want his fingerprints on a Quid pro quo
Just on Fox Rahm told he is NOT a target of the Investigation
I’m afraid that it will take more than 1 person to cover that particular issue.
Are the wheels coming off that trolley yet?
Not necessarily. A president doesn’t have to bribe a governor. However, offering a little perk like a board membership for his wife is probably something Rahm would do as second nature, and especially would do so if Rod had some semi-juicy inside dope on the holy O. A little offer just to nail down the loose cannon.
I think that’s what happened, but the nimRod wanted something big up front and so went into a more or less explicit rant for the tape.
All in all, it will probably show that O and Rahm are very familiar with the felony-as-a-rule SOP in Illinois.

Emanuel is Obama’s brain.

Rahm, "I never had sex with, er, talked to the Illinois Governor. Hell, I don't even know him."

Hey Zer0, How are you hanging in there with the big boys? How's your smoking and facial tics coming along? Enjoy your ride. The fun is just beginning.
