It better work because nobody knows what Mr Obama will do, not even Mr Obama. He might as easily over-react as under-react.

Our enemies have been jumping for joy at having been able to FINALLY have their handlers provide some at the helm of the American armed forces who has no intention of using our might to protect us.
Very, VERY big attack coming in the January-February timeframe.
If you know anyone who voted for the new fuhrer (actually, his handlers) — tell them it is on them.

Come January 20,2009, our adversaries will consist of mainly Israel.
Out domestic enemies will mainly consist of individuals who believe in the Constitution as it was written, legimate gun owners.Christians,Jews, and White straight males.
From my point of view, far too many listed in paragraph 2 voted for him. They are about to get what they prayed for.

That's the situation we all are in, thanks to many years of dem's sabotage and appeasement. I have a feeling that the warning will not be taken seriously. Just look at "the one" blabbering one platitude after another in response to challenges and waiting to take a credit when people who run him will solve the problems... Only they never do.

Even the dumbest enemy of the US will recognize that Gates is not the big enchilada in the US government. They will know that the US military will not roll into action without the go code from Obama.
Therefore, this "warning" from the Secretary of Defense is worse than useless. What it says, between the lines, is this: "The incoming President may be a wuss. But, I'm not a wuss. And the US military is not a bunch of wusses." But our enemies will danged well know that if the President is a wuss, all the rest of that is irrelevant.
It's like when Adlai Stevenson's son was running for Governor of Illinois. He held a press conference to claim that he wasn't "a wimp." If you have to call a press conference to deny something like that, the votes are in and the verdict is clear. You ARE a wimp.
So, this announcement by Gates might as well been, "The new President of the United States is a wuss. So, attack us at your pleasure." Doesn't anyone in the coming Obama Administration ever think about the consequences of what they do or say? No need to answer that, it's rhetorical.

Nixon talked with the greatest mass murderer in world history without imposing conditions. Besides...the whole thing is pretty much a sham and figleaf. Obama’s foreign policy team is only marginally different from Bush’s and his Iran policy is is virtually the same. Ain’t really a dime’s worth of differnce.
To: kenth
Well, his staff did brag that hes completely level headed and cool... unless something surprises him. Not too far afield from cold, aloof, and clueless. All of these traits are often are displayed using similar body language and halting, rambling speech so it's hard to tell the difference.
