In Utah, the Parowan Prophet predicts disaster will prevent Obama from taking office
LA Times ^ | December 13, 2008

Posted on 12/14/2008 7:01:35 AM PST by NCjim

'He will not be the next president,' Leland Freeborn warns those who will listen. He and his followers expect nuclear explosions this Christmas season.

Reporting from Parowan, Utah — Our trip to the Parowan Prophet began with a letter to the St. George Spectrum. It was set among missives proposing that oil companies bail out Detroit automakers, that county inmates be forced to winter in tents, that lawyers be barred from public office. A rough crowd.

This particular letter to the editor in the St. George, Utah, newspaper carried the headline " 'Prophet' shares grim forecast," and it was signed by one Leland Freeborn of Parowan, who wrote that he was known to many as the Parowan Prophet.

After establishing his bona fides as an international talk radio guest and proprietor of a survivalist website that has "passed more than 100,000 hits," Freeborn wrote:

"I think that you should hear what my opinion about the Obama election is: that he will not be the next president. I said on my home page in August that if he lost to expect to see the 'riots' that 2 Peter 2:13 tells us about. He didn't lose. But the story is not finished yet. I still think they may begin the riots before Christmas 2008, as I said."

These riots, according to his prophecy, will encourage the "old, hard-line Soviet guard" to seize the moment and rain down nukes on the United States, killing at least 100 million of us.

"Prepare now," Freeborn's letter concluded. "We are downwind from Las Vegas. I hope you can survive."

Guess around December 26 we will know about his prophetic abilities.

My money is on him then telling us that it was just his "opinion" in any case.

I do n oit want to see Obama president, but not to the extent that I would wish or hope for nuclear destruction upon our nation and 100 million dead.

I believe Obama's policies may well lead to another attack on our nation, worse than 911, and that such an attack may wake us up...but I do not wish for it.

Read, Vince Flynn's, "Extreme Measurtes", if you want a more likely future.

I love this........this guy predicts a revolution in Russia, all out nuclear war and 100 million American fatalities; and this newspaper chooses what for its headline?

It reminds me of the old joke about different newspapers announcing the end of the world......”democrats and Obama affected most....”

An attack by whom? I heard a speech by Daniel Pipes where he expressed his opinion that the jihadists are perfectly willing to accomplish their goals by violence, or by working within the system. Working within the system may be their better bet during an Obama administration, so we may actually have more peace with them during his tenure, but not a good peace.

They will work within the system to bring us down.

I do not believe for an instant that we will have "peace" with the Islamic Jihadist short of being dead or lying on the ground with their boot on our neck.

Any lessening of tempo will simply allow them to regroup and represent a sick calm before a much worse storm IMHO.

Never understood how a lawyer who is an "officer of the court" can serve in the Executive or Legislative branches of government.

My reply to an earlier post, different subject ... sort of.

"I'm afraid that a(nother) marvelous coup is about to be enacted.

It seems in America and England there are yutes that are disappearing to Pakistan to give up all the knowledge they have of their respective former areas of residence. Just ONE kid that had attended a college or university, undercover, so to speak .. can give up tons of data gleaned from the library/resource center.

3/26/03:

In a 1988 vision, an angel took Freeborn to Babylon. There, Saddam Hussein has an underground germ warfare complex. To destroy it, the United States will use nuclear bombs, killing thousands.Freeborn said Russia will attack because it thinks America is the modern-day Babylon, the center of wealth and cruelty. With U.S. forces in Iraq, America cannot defend itself and its ammunition dumps. In fact, the United States will have problems defending itself in Operation Iraqi Freedom; it has underestimated Iraq"s strength.
'We will lose tens of thousands of our military,' Freeborn said. 'In less than six weeks, we will use nukes.'

Exactly. They'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar during the Obama Administration - for inevitably, the liberals will label this "peaceful coexistence".

I have nothing against “prophecy” per se, but why is all “prophets” quoted by the MSM seem to exclusively speak of nuclear holocaust and the end of the world?

I also don’t out-of-hand dismiss those who claim they have been reincarnated, but why did everyone who claims to be reincarnated also claims to once have been Joan of Arc?

Look, I and many other Evangelical Christians were not about to have a member of a cult-group (definition: cult in Christianity means anyone denying historic, basic, foundational Christian doctrines) be President of the United States.

Now, for Evangelicals, that would include Obama, because from what I see he denies these basic, historic and foundational Christian doctrines (from some of what I’ve seen that he’s said). Unfortunately, there were too many other nuts out there that want someone like Obama.

But, also that includes the cult group of Mormonism (they’re defined, also, as a “cult”, not in the popular “newspaper” sense, but in the Christian doctrinal sense). And that candidate who was running this last primary season was Romney. Fortunately, in the GOP, Romney was knocked out of the running. Unfortunately, we still got a RINO candidate who lost to Obama.

Now, this present and so-called “prophet” above (in this thread) is also one of those Mormon offshoots. Many of them seem to be looking for the “event” to happen (in the U.S.) in which the Mormons come in “riding to the rescue” of the United States. Perhaps this was what Romney thought in his own way — that he would “ride in to the rescue” of not only the GOP, but of the U.S. too.

Some comments from other Mormons in history about “rescuing” the U.S. ....

Joseph smith predicted that the time would come “when the Constitution of our country would hang as it were by a thread, and that the Latter-day Saints above all other people in the world would come to the rescue.” (in the Conference Report of 1912)

Numerous Mormons throughout history have repeated this prophecy/statement:

LDS apostle Mark E. Peterson in 1946: “[Joseph Smith] said if the Constitution of the United States were saved at all it must be done by this people. It will not be many years before these words come to pass. When the Constitution of the United States hangs, as it were, upon a single thread, they will have to call for the ‘Mormon Elders to save it from utter destruction; they will step forth and do it.” (in the Conference Report of 1946)

LDS apostle and future president Harold B. Lee in 1952: after referencing the Constitution on a thread prophecy said, “We alone (the elders of the Mormon church) know by revelation as to how the Constitution came into being, and we, alone, know by revelation the destiny of this nation.” (in the Conference Report of 1952)

LDS president Ezra Taft Benson in 1988: “Joseph Smith predicted that the time would come when the Constitution would hang, as it were, by a thread, and at that time ‘this people will step forth and save it from the threatened destruction.’” (in Teachings of Ezra Taft)

So, it’s not only a cult-group by Christian historic, basic and foundational doctrine, but also seems to be sort of a cult in this “ride-to-the-rescue” of the U.S., too...

“” lawyers be barred from public office””

Bingo—the cause of 99% of the nation’s problems are due to these sleazeballs mangling the constitution, passing laws and regulations designed to benefit lawyers, outlawing any group that might be opposed to corrupt lawyers and judges and the list of dishonest intentions goes on.

Our constitution is in extreme peril.

If someone comes along and helps rescue it, and I mean by that, returning this constitutional Republic to its roots and reestablishing the constitution and basing it on the Judao-Christian foundation it was built upon...I would not care if that person or group of persons were Baptist, Catholic, LDS, Jewish, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc., etc. or any other stripe if that is actually what they did.

I would applaud them for the effort and vote for them if it was clear to me that that was their intent.

So, my suggestion would be to let's not make this thread a general bash or attack session towarss anyone's faith per sey. This individual made a very specific prophecy, we will know in a few days if he is correct.

I am certainly not putting my money on it...particularly given his track record as documented in this thread...and would never entertaining basing my faith on it regarding the Risen Lord Jesus Christ in any case.

Amen. Just another false prophet. Obama is not mentioned in the book of 1st Peter or any other book of the Bible. The United States of America is not in tbe Bible either - there is stuff about ancient Israel, Greece, Persia, the Roman Empire but the U.S.A. is not in the Bible, nor is the Soviet Union, East Germany, Malawi or New Zealand. I wish people would learn Church history and read the Bible rather than listen to these false prophets and heretics. I don't know how these false teachers can be proven wrong time and time again but people still follow them.
