Sen. John McCain said Sunday he would not necessarily support his former running mate if she chose to run for president. Speaking to ABC's "This Week," McCain was asked whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could count on his support. "I can't say something like that. We've got some great other young governors. I think you're going to see the governors assume a greater leadership role in our Republican Party," he said. He then mentioned governors Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Jon Huntsman of Utah.

In fairness, it is somewhat premature...but nobody’s going to accuse McCain of being terribly gracious toward his former runningmate, it seems.
I notice HE didn’t pick Pawlenty or anybody but Palin.
Some people like Kerry, Gore and now McCain deserve the ash heap of history ... best they are forgotton.
So let me get this straight McCain, she was qualified to be the Vice President of the United States, but you won’t endorse her in 4 years to run for President, Ok John, actually I am kinda grateful that he did not endorse her, his endorsement is like the kiss of death, Sarah needs to distance herself from that RINO
I’m pretty certain if Sarah were to endorse someone in a primary against McCain, that McCain would go down in defeat no matter how many stops the GOP pulled to save his butt. I know she won’t. But she should.
He was heard to say something about not endorsing “pigs with lipstick” or something to that effect... (reported “off the record” by a McCain insider)... LOL...
What a disloyal asshat.
She should, that is what I would call..SWEET REVENGE
She was supposed to be the little lady on the ticket, quiet and agreeable, as a sop to draw disgruntled Hillary voters.
He didn’t count on such a visceral, positive reaction from a large segment of conservative Republicans. She outshone him.
And, contrary old cuss that he is, self-destructive fool that he has always been, he really resents her for it.
I disagree that it's too early. The GOP should decide as early as possible who should receive support, and it is only decent for the failed presidential candidate to declare that his running mate is the next best choice for the job. Theoretically that's exactly why McCain chose Palin in the first place.
He is an ungracious RINO.
Call his offices, and let him know what you think... He would not of won his home state without her..Being that his favorite is going to be needing a new chief of staff soon, perhaps McCain could get that job..
Check the Governors he mentioned for ‘scent of a RhINO’
It’s no surprise, and it doesn’t even bother me. The ONLY reason Palin was such a good pick for McCain was because SHE wasn’t somebody that HE WOULD support in the WH, except, of course, over his dead body. . .
That’s WHY she was such a hit: she was the un-McCain of the McCain campaign.
There have GOT to be some decent, articulate, electable conservative Republicans in Arizona. Can’t we get one of them to run against McCain in the primary, and send him packing?
This is disgusting. Hey, !@(*#!@, who do you think was responsible for what little excitement your pathetic campaign generated? Hint: It wasn’t YOU, you backstabbing, pathetic LOSER.
The ash heap of history is too GOOD of McCain.
“if Sarah were to endorse someone in a primary against McCain,”
Sweet. Let’s find a good candidate.
