The German doctor who invented the process that led to hundreds of human bodies being put on display around the world, says he has stopped using bodies from China because some of them may be those of executed Chinese prisoners.
The body shows, which have drawn millions of paying customers in more than 30 cities, show human bodies that have been preserved with a liquid plastic process. The bodies are shown skinned and trimmed, in a variety of poses, including throwing a football, playing poker or at a chess board.
In an interview to be aired Friday on the ABC News program "20/20," Dr. Gunther von Hagens also says an underground black market is providing bodies to Chinese companies that export them to the U.S. and Europe, despite a 2006 Chinese law prohibiting the export of human bodies for commercial purposes. There is a reason that this display feels WRONG.
Because it is. We’re all wired to recognize evil when we see it.
This irreverant nightmare was forced on our school kids for about six months in My Home Town. I thought it shuddersome even before I heard about where they came from. The elitists who would shout “animal cruelty” at a sideshow geek biting the heads off chickens stroll up and down the asiles of real thin-sliced human beings and pronounce it “fine art”. Am I missing something?
It’s bad enough to see them on billboards, buses and bus stops. Each corpse is testimony to the Godless Chinese butchers who mock our stupidity all the way to the bank.
Yes, you are missing the DEATH CERTIFICATE for each individual corpse on display.
And who are we to condemn since the parts and fluids of innocent babies have been sold to the highest bidders for many years. Planned parenthood remains alive and well in their daily practice of barbarism.
Some years ago there was a scandal at a major museum because there was a 150 year old skin of an African on display.
anyone remember about it?
The only skin I get to see anymore is on CSI. :-(
It became unethical when he crossed the line from science to art.
Tell me why I can go to most fast food places and see an exact replica of the sandwich or burger I am ordering made of plastic, yet it is necessary to use real bodies for this so called art.
When are we going to get the “John Kerry, who served in Vietnam” wing of this exhibit?
We traveled a bit when he was young but as he jokes if accepted as The Man with Cerebral Palsy Level 5 his body will travel the world while his soul glorifies the Lord.
I know many medical people who wished they had these anatomies to study when in Med. School.
My son gave a book about the process and big glossy pics of the tour itself for his Doc.
His Doc was so thrilled he said he was going to put it out on the table for all patients to see and I suggested to him that may not be cool as some folks dont want to see detailed carcases.
On another note I wish our society and others had as much interest in the Sanctity of Life for the unborn/elderly and disabled as they do this touring teaching tour.
I’ll give them credit for this:
On their fun fact page they note that
A fetus acquires fingerprints at the age of
three months.
The only reason I see for this “real” corpse is deeply sinister. The Chinese plan the future in decades and generations. They delight in the demise of American culture and values. Hence, this desensitizing of death fits their plans very nicely.
At least he has a conscience.
German Doctor Joseph Mengila (sp)?
Scant decades ago the Nazis had their own version of this and we were horrified.
Today, it is a traveling circus with a marketing campaign and we are supposed to be awed?
Is anything Sacred anymore?
As morally repugnant as it is, I took my 15 year old daughter to see the exhibit. She wants to be a doctor and it gave her a view that no textbook for a 15 year old could provide.
When we left the exhibit, we did talk about the ethical and moral aspect of what we witnessed.
God's creation is awesome. I saw this exhibit (or one like it) and it was absolutely amazing.
