For 130 years they have been part of Christmas, filling the air in towns across the land with music and carols.
But one thing is missing from the repertoire of Salvation Army bands this year - the percussion of rattling tins.
Members have been forbidden to shake their charity tins - even if it's done in time to the music - in case it harasses or intimidates people. One said she had been told it might also offend other religions.
Tin man: Salvation Army collectors have been told not to rattle their tins as it could be construed as religious harassment Guidelines for branches organising public collections say tinholders should simply keep the tin still.
It means that when the brass bands start up they can rock and roll all they want - but if they shake and rattle, it could put them in conflict with the law.

Heck I am offended that they were told to stop. I think the next time I go to Walmart, I will take my own tin and start making some noise.

In our area, the SA is also saying “Happy Holidays” instead of Merry Christmas. I now give to the local Rescue Mission.
England needs its own revolution.
How long before people say “enough”? How long before the tyranny of the minority tramples enough of our values and traditions that there is a grassroots revolt? I know this is the UK, but it’s outrageous.
The Salvation Army should return to its roots.
It was one of the firt modern “in your face” Christian movements. Formed because most of the churches in England had become apathetic. Not the Salvation Army is in danger of becomming the very thing it was formed to fight against.
I went to a WalMart last week and the SA guy had a electric
keyboard playing Chritmas songs!!! I put something in the kettle and said “cool, man” and he just smiled....
Terrorist Muslims offend the hell out of me. I relish the death of Terrorist Muslims and wish there could be more. As to non-Terrorist Muslims, I am ambivalent!

I had read some stories of different Euro nations being taken over by socialism and Islam with people fleeing the continent. Not a tremendous amount, but enought to warrant a news piece.
I have a few Brit neighbors in my Chuch, my in childrens’ school, and my in-laws’ retirement community. I like them alot. They have a real quirky sense of humor and are good neighbors.
What are the odds the English might come here when the Muslims start making life less convenient and a lttle more like hell?
Wonder if they’ll be allowed into the US at that point?
