JMO, but the "Republican establishment" has always been more comfortable being the Loyal Opposition to the majority party.

Damn. The GOP needs a vinegar and Clorox enema to clean out the tube worms like Newt stuck in its bowels.

He deserves to be treated with the same contempt given to John McCain.

These holier-than-thou Grandees of the Republican Political Class need to be exorcised.

It might be helpful for conservatives to print this thread out and look at it the next time Newt’s name comes up for a leadership position in ANYTHING. He is less trustworthy than John McCain, and after seeing the latter’s efforts during the election, that is no mean feat.

“I’ll be happy when conservaives give up any idea Newt is “one of us”. Whatever he was in past, he left behind him. It’s nostalgia at best. He deserves to be treated with the same contempt given to John McCain.”

Well stated.

The old Republican establishment appears to have lost its mind. I guess I’ll just start referring to myself as a conservative....

Best chuckle I had today. You're right: Most political labels are pretty useless these days. Better just to say what you are for and what you are against. I'm thinking of getting my list laminated and passing it around at family gatherings and social events. It's the "speed dating" version of political small talk.

Maybe Newt has his own similar pay for play connections he doesn’t want exposed ... still remembering the sting of being so vocal against the Clintons to have his own affair revealed...

Newt is on the same page as Barry with regard to global warming. Does that answer your question?

I got tired of hearing from Newt a few years ago. He should retire quietly, and let new talent take charge of the GOP.

You and Chuckie Schumer will do anything to get your faces on TV. That is not a compliment.
