I truly believe our prosecutors have lost sight of their missions. Too many seem to think they are out to make a difference by making an example of someone and being a big hero.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems prosecutors are more interested in winning than in serving the interests of society and doing justice.

She sounds like a real peach. Can you imagine the poor fella that’s married to her? Yikes.

Too many prosecutors see political futures and black robes in their minds eye.
Legal system whores, in it for the money and the glory. Damn the law and justice.

I agree...Debra Markham tried to make an example of those two boys and lost sight of the interests of society, it backfired on her.
I won’t prejudge her on this but it seems she may have overstepped the limits of the law she swore to uphold.

A shout out to Dennis Prager (WWW.PragerRadio.com) who helped give this story national attention.
It is my understanding that a sizable chunk of the donations came from his listeners.

This reminds me of the job I had the summer after a graduated high school.
I worked in the meat department of a small family owned grocery store.
My supervisor was an alcoholic and regularly came in late with a black eye given to him by his loving wife.
I seems as if the couple in question may have a similar and much more common than most people realize relationship.

They should charge her with attempted murder and kidnapping. Im sure she would want to be treated the same way she treated those kids.

I’ll don the asbestos suit, but every time I see a married couple where the woman doesn’t take the man’s last name, I always predict trouble. I’m usually right.

We have an Assistant Prosecutor here in SW Washington who is on his 3rd DUI, and just had his charges reduced. Complaints to the Prosecutor and the City Attorney have accomplished nothing about getting this guy canned...all we got was a butt-covering memo that justified why they overlooked his previous problems when he was in College.
This isn’t an Oregon problem, it’s a National problem that has many different facets to it.

Here’s out-of-control DA from our local paper (also Oregon):
A man charged with causing the death of his 9-year-old son in a November 2006 traffic crash pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 20 days in jail and five years probation.
John Tolleson, 40, pleaded to charges Tuesday. Tolleson was accused of losing control of his vehicle on ice while passing other vehicles on Highway 140 west of Klamath Falls.
