Greetings to all the Freepers out there in Freeperland. Time for the Friday Flyby. It's the weekend before Christmas so it's time for the annual Santa photos and cartoons. A note of warning in that some of these may get little kids upset so be careful :-) So on with the pics...

Ya know Santa has a problem with the Reindeer and FOD when visiting the troops on the flightline. The Jolly ol elf is a resourceful fella and is not above borrowing a ride so he can get the deliveries done in an oderly and efficent military manner.

Speaking of "borrowing" a ride, even Santa and Mrs Claus can see the cargo advantages in a C-130!

And for those of you that have been naughty, well I suspect Santa has found something a little more severe than a lump of coal in your stocking.

Everybody wants in on the act when Christmas gets here as the next two pictures will attest..

Well I need to wrap up tonights Flyby. In case you were wondering how Santa is able to get all over the world in one night I think I might have found the answer.

Replies may be light as I have to work tomorrow and am feeling a bit punked out as this is my half day off. But I plan on being back tomorrow night with the rest of the Santa Pics.

Y'all have a great weekend out there.

Regards

Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

December 20, 2008
Hallelujah!
I know that my Redeemer lives. —Job 19:25

Composer George Frideric Handel was bankrupt when in 1741 a group of Dublin charities offered him a commission to write a musical work. It was for a benefit performance to raise funds to free men from a debtors’ prison. He accepted that commission and gave himself tirelessly to work on it.

In just 24 days, Handel composed the well-known masterpiece Messiah, which contains “The Hallelujah Chorus.” During that time, he never left his home and often went without eating. At one point, a servant found him weeping over his evolving score. Recounting his experience, Handel wrote, “Whether I was in my body or out of my body as I wrote it I know not. God knows.” Afterward he also said, “I did think I did see all heaven before me and the great God Himself.”

“The Hallelujah Chorus” stirs my soul whenever I hear it, as I’m sure it does yours. But let’s be sure we do more than resonate to that magnificent music. Let’s open our hearts in faith and adoration for the Messiah promised in the book of Isaiah (Isa. 9:1-7). He has come to us in the person of Jesus Christ to be our Savior. “Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder” (v.6).

Beautiful Savior! Lord of the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise, adoration
Now and forevermore be Thine! —Seiss (trans.)

God’s highest Gift awakens our deepest gratitude.

Merry Christmas, Mayor - thanks for the reminder of Handel's great masterpiece "Messiah." I have had the good fortune to sing the entire work in large chorus and it is one of the most inspiring works in the canon, for its own merit and the glory of God that it reflects.
