This might be a Howie column or it might not. Honest to God, it says “by ho” on the Herald’s website as of 2:25 am,
Wed., Dec 31, 2008. I am assuming it could be by Howie.
Alleged Howie column ping.

Jim Marzilli rings in New Year groping for a handful
By ho (sic)
Wednesday, December 31, 2008 - Added 6h ago

And so 2008 ends the way it began - with disgraced ex-Sen. Jim Marzilli’s hand in an extremely inappropriate place.

This time it isn’t on some poor woman’s crotch in Lowell, it’s on the commonwealth’s public purse. Yes, the perv in the Prius, facing trial in the spring on charges of groping and making lewd comments during a one-man crime spree in Lowell, now seeks at the age of 50 to nearly double his pension.

Fourteen thousand isn’t nearly enough. He claims he deserves $27,000.

I thought this bum Marzilli was a Socialist. What about . . . the children, Jim? Yet another liberal who talks the talk but can’t be bothered walking the walk.

This latest turn of events, as appalling as it is, is not exactly unexpected. I know, because I predicted exactly what has now transpired, back in my column of July 16. You can look it up.

I’ll also stand by my other prediction that day - that the Retirement Board will vote thumbs-down on this latest outbreak of senatorial kleptomania, and that Marzilli will appeal the decision to the grotesquely corrupt Massachusetts judiciary, which will take about five seconds to approve his pension and give him a hearty pat on the back to boot.

Who says there is no honor among thieves?

After this pension-grab story broke on Christmas Eve, I checked back on the local Arlington Web site. One Menotony moonbat opined: “I can’t necessarily fault him for taking advantage of the law.”

Another member of the PC Posse wrote: “It appears to me that Jim is following a provision of the pension law.”

And what a provision. Marzilli gets to cash out because he allegedly abused at least four women in Lowell, then attempted to escape from the police, gave a phony name when he was collared, and finally had the temerity to check himself into a mental hospital, claiming that he had a “disease.”

Remarkably, he recovered enough from his, ahem, bipolar disorder, to go on a junket to Germany in the fall.

Marzilli “lost” his seat because he didn’t campaign after his arrest. However you want to slice the baloney, the fact is, Marzilli is trying to reward himself for allegedly making the following despicable statements to various women on the streets of Lowell:

“Do you have any undergarments under that?”

“The sex is sweet, you want it, and you want to go with me.”

“Oh baby, you are so beautiful - your butt is perfect.”

For his vile conduct, Jim Marzilli thinks he deserves a double pension. Happy New Year!

Howie, when did you change your name?? Your latest predictions will probably come true. I guess the Herald cannot afford a proof reader.

Yeah I thought this was a ghost written Carr article.

LOL! Has Howie forgotten Animal Farm? All the animals are equal . . . but some are more equal than others!

Wed show ping. Should be Avi Nelson today, maybe a best of
tomorrow, and Col Hunt on Friday.

We could use snowstorm reporter “Buff Buffington” right about now (For God’s sake get out to the market right now! We may never have bread or milk again! I just saw a polar bear!
Helllp! Hellllp!)

Here in Beverly allegedly there’s Beverly New Year 2009,
aka “We didn’t want to spend the money to get the rights to
the ‘First Night’ name”. May try to wade through the snow to catch a blues/folk concert at an art gallery on
Cabot St (3 pm)

Meanwhile, in Hartford the 3 pm local talk host got laid
off at WTIC and they’re replacing him with a local news
block. I thought, yeah it’s great they’re doing local
stuff, certainly, but wouldn’t it have been great if they
picked up HOWIE?

WBZ has let go overnight weeknight talk host Steve Leveille (not conservative) in favor of apparently a nationwide show. Also gone Lovell Dyett, Pat Desmarais (a libertarian) and sports guy Tom Cuddy. Tight budgets.

Maybe a best of show today? Col Hunt tomorrow I think.
Howie back Monday

Fri column ping

Can you spare a dime in ’09?
By Howie Carr | Friday, January 2, 2009 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

Happy New Year to all the wonderful dime-droppers and snitches who make it possible for us to tell you what’s going on in the various hackeramas.

But I would like to ask one small favor for everyone just itchin’ to get even in 2009 with your overpaid, underworked, connected boss.

Names, please. If you’re sending us stuff anonymously (snail mail is still the best way, because it can’t be traced), there’s no need to hold anything back. The more dirt you give us, the quicker we can turn it around.

Did you see the story on Monday about Gov. Deval Patrick hiring his neighbor in Milton to a $120,000-a-year job as director of real estate services? That came to me (via snail mail), with the fact that this newest payroll patriot, Dana Harrell, was a Deval campaign contributor ($1,450). The package also included a hard copy of the e-mail introducing him. (Don’t directly forward us any e-mails; they’re traceable. Either print them out, or cut and paste and send from private accounts.)

Here’s a tip I just got about an elected official at a Christmas party making anti-gay jokes, saying he’s coming out of the closet.

Several judges showed up, according to this letter. One judge stood up and congratulated the pol, saying he could now apply for a judgeship since he was out of the closet.

Not to quibble - we will try to run this story down - but why not include the judge’s name? That’s the best part of the story, that even the greedy fathead judges are loudly noticing who’s getting appointed to the bench these days.

Finally, here’s what I’m looking for more of in 2009. This letter proves the eternal truth of the adage: “Once you go hack, you never go back.”

And neither does anyone in your family.

Our correspondent begins with an obit for a judge who recently went to that public trough in the sky. Then the writer lists the judge’s survivors, all of whom are on judicial payrolls. I haven’t confirmed the names yet, because I just got the letter New Year’s Eve, but it’ll be a nice way to start 2009.

The late judge’s daughter, after a very brief, ill-advised foray into the Dreaded Private Sector, is now back at the public trough making $92,000 a year as a clerk. Another daughter: $57,193 as program manager. The judge’s former clerk is now making $126,000 a year as a scheduler - he could be replaced by a $200 software program, but hey, it’s only the taxpayers’ money.

The obit for the judge listed a surviving brother, and guess what? A gentleman with the exact same name as the late jurist’s sibling also shows up on the Herald’s state payroll as an employee of, you guessed it, the trial court. Another nationwide search, another program manager, for $78,133 a year.

Drop a dime in ’09!
