'Uncle Teddy ' wants Caroline to carry forward the Kennedy legacy (Isn't she a Schlossberg?)

'Uncle Teddy ' wants Caroline to carry forward the Kennedy legacy

London, Dec 22 : Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the assassinated President John F Kennedy, has decided to pursue a Senate seat out of a sense of responsibility to her dying 'Uncle Teddy ' - Senator Edward Kennedy, according to his friends.

According to a report in the Times, after his brothers JFK and Robert Kennedy were shot in the 1960s, Senator Edward Kennedy regarded it as his solemn duty to pick up the family's 'fallen standard '.

As he battles against an incurable brain tumour, his fervent wish is to pass the family banner to his niece in the Senate.

For nearly half a century, Edward has occupied JFK's old seat at the back of the chamber and the friends said that he regarded it as unthinkable for the hallowed chair to be occupied by an outsider after his death.

'He wants her in the Senate. There is no question about it, ' Ed Koch, the former mayor of New York, whom Caroline Kennedy rang for advice last week, told the Times.

'I believe she is highly intelligent, dedicated and as qualified as Hillary Clinton was when she first expressed an interest in running, ' he added.

Edward Kennedy has been quietly twisting arms to ensure Caroline's selection for the seat being vacated by Clinton as she prepares to become secretary of state.

He has even talked privately to influential senators such as Charles Schumer of New York and Robert Menendez of New Jersey.

'Uncle Teddy ' has been a father figure to Caroline for years. As a girl, she spent summers working as his intern in the Senate.

Caroline's chief rival for the seat is a member of another dynasty, Andrew Cuomo, the son of Mario Cuomo, a former governor of New York who is polling roughly the same level of support - 25 percent.

Schlossberg? Is that slang for “drunk but frigid?”

Teddy don’t worry. Arnold is carrying on the Kennedy legacy just fine. Not Jack’s fiscal conservatism, but your brand of extreme far-left kookery. He’s ruining California the way you and your minions ruined Massachusettes long ago. You should be very proud, as would your father the rum-runner.

When did a senate seat become a ‘family heirloom’ to be passed down to the next ‘deserving’ relative?!

She didn’t change her name when she married. I guess she didn’t think Schlossberg was a bargaining chip like the name Kennedy. You have got to plan ahead when you are ‘royalty’. /s

Why doesn't Teddy "the swimmer" just bequeath
his seat to Mrs Schlossberg?

“’Uncle Teddy ‘ wants Caroline to carry forward the Kennedy legacy (Isn’t she a Schlossberg?)”

Don’t know if this is correct, but Wikipedia says, under the Personal Life section:

“Although she is often incorrectly referred to as “Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg,” she did not change her name when she married.”

Paterson would be a fool to fall for Uncle Ted’s promises of pork largesse that he will unable to deliver once he is dead (most likely within 10-14 months). The smart play for Paterson is to appoint Andrew Cuomo, thus removing from the stage his only significant rival for election. But not sure if his cocaine-scarred mind will come to such a logical conclusion.

Well, I’ll say this: I’d rather imagine Caroline wearing a Brooks Brothers button-down and nothing else than Ted.

I’ve really had all that I can take of the Kennedy “legacy.”

That old fool believes he can just bequeath it, like part of his estate.

More than half of the people in America were born after “Camelot” (and millions more were too young then to have any MSM memories of it now), so the “Kennedy legacy” means nothing to them.

This is a good idea. Caroline could get an apartment in Boston for her residence and I'm sure Gov Patrick would appoint her and the dullard Kennedy fans of Massachusetts could vote her in for life like Teddy. Does she have any kids? If she does she needs to start grooming them for high public office too so that KENNEDY legacy doesn't die.

In order to carry on the Kennedy legacy she would have to turn into a slut and start drinking heavily.

I don’t know about the drinking heavily part, but on the slut front, rumor has it that Pinch Sulzberger (he of the New York Times Sulzbergers) and Caroline Kennedy are “special friends”:

My limited knowledge of German says that “der Schloss” means `castle’ and “der Berg” means `mountain’.

Therefore, Caroline Kennedy is “the castle upon the mountain(top)”.

Which must never be questioned nor challenged. When Herself wants the opinion of you commoners, She will ask for it.

I disagree with you. If Patterson were a true patriot, he would appoint the hardest working, most successful congressperson in New York to the seat and kill nepotism. This country was founded to end dynastic rule.

That's what I posted back on 12/20:

Speaking of "missing the Big Picture," I think she wants to give Uncle Teddy the gift of another Kennedy in the Senate before he passes.

This is about sustaining the Kennedy legacy in the Senate. Swearing in Caroline while Uncle Ted is still in the Senate will be a spectacle for Democrats like nothing we've seen before. When Ted finally passes, Senator Caroline will preside over a Senate memorial that will put the Wellstone memorial to shame.

She’ll be part of a new legacy. Unlike “Sweet Caroline”, “The Swimmer” could not be appointed to his brother’s seat in ‘61.

Camelot Barbie is reminding me more and more of Veruca Salt, from the Roald Dahl book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Made into the “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” movie starring Gene Wilder).

For nearly half a century, Edward has occupied JFK's old seat at the back of the chamber and the friends said that he regarded it as unthinkable for the hallowed chair to be occupied by an outsider after his death.

So now fellow citizens are "outsiders"? Talk about presuming an entitlement.

If memory serves me correctly Senate seats assigned to each state are retained from Senator to Senator. Therefore the seat Princess Caroline would occupy would be one of the two NY seats. Therefore I am not sure what Teddy and/or his anonymous friends are talking about when it comes to an "outsider" filling Teddy's MA Senate seat. And what MA relative would be able to retain the seat from "outsider" assault?

Ted Kennedy cant die soon enough for me. The Kennedy legacy? Drunks. Drug addicts. Adulterers. Murderers. Child Rapists. General reprobates all around. Some fallen standard to pick up. Why cant the Kennedys just STFU already and go away and count their millions?

What’s a letter of the alphabet?

Indeed that's the only distinction. Upon one little ink stroke in one checkbox, 1/4 of an inch above the other, were the hopes, dreams and expectations of a land of 36 million people placed.

None of that "family heirloom" crap here in Illinois, it goes to the highest bidder.
