But I am sick and tired of the America bashing by Brits---and with their unraveling society...becoming a western staging ground for Islamists/1000 mosques established over the last 10 years--many in abandoned churches--the highest youth drunkeness and teen pregnancy and abortion rates in Europe, exploding street crime and murders--talk about the pot calling kettle black.

A couple sample comments in response to the tragic Santa murders report in The Daily Mail today:

"America has always been the same. If you haven't previously run amok and committed mass murder, then you can go into a gun shop and legally buy guns to do just that. What a sick society."

Jim Diamond, Cambridge UK, 26/12/2008 11:16

"Home of the brave, land of the free. If countries were people this one would be sectioned. A truly awful society."

I experienced more anti-Americanism in the UK as a teenager, than I ever have in Mexico, Italy, Spain, Germany, etc (I speak and understand Spanish, btw). The only place where I encountered more open anti-Americanism was in France (although it was concentrated among snot nosed students).

There are some great folks in England, but once they get a few pints in them, they will tell you what they REALLY think of us. Of course, most of my time in England was in London and Oxford, so it may not have been a representative sample. Most of the English that I've done business with are usually pretty fair, even when critical of the U S of A.

I don’t know why you are so mad at Britain? It’s been dead and buried some 20 years, now. We have Britainistan and nothing else. The great land of England has long since perished of its own stupidity and political correctness.

Now, all that is left in England are spineless, half-men, criminal teens and Islamofascists. I mourn for its loss, but alas, it is lost, indeed. And we’ll never see its like again.

So, we’d best begin to plan on Britainistan being an outright enemy soon. Not this minute, but soon enough it will come to a shooting war with them once again. Eventually Britainistan will be aligned with the Islamofascists and opposing us anywhere and everywhere.

Too bad. It used to be such a nice place.

Living in Orlando I’ve had the opportunity to run into Brit tourists at some of our local gun ranges.

Invariably there are one or two in the group (that is almost always escorted by an American) that are the whiny liberal types. They complain that they are there, they complain that they went along with their friends who talked them into going, they whine about guns, blah, blah, blah.

Then they shoot.

When they are done with the first cylinder/magazine they ALWAYS turn around and say, “Can I do it again?”

I’ve even talked to some whose SOLE purpose is to come on vacation to Orlando and shoot. Sometimes just the rental handguns and other times machine guns.

DownUnder in Australia and New Zealand they are known as “Whinging Poms”. All they do is whinge about how much better it is in the UK and how primitive things are here in the Colonies.

Eventually they grow out of it. Given lots of time and patience. Especially patience. And cold beer.

It’s amazing how much they get to like ice cold local beer after a few scorching summers and only their warm beer to drink.

I don’t know how they manage to drink their stuff: it looks and tastes like warm, soapy, used bath-water. Ick!

But that’s whinging poms for ya.

I have been back twice and will go back again. I go whenever I can scrape up airfare. And I was there in 68-69 and back and forth between there and Okinawa for another year. It is a beautiful country marred by a thoroughly corrupt government. The people are actually more like Americans than any other people in South and East Asia. They will tell you that America is the Promised Land and Americans are the reason why.

Clemenza,

Don’t know when you were in Britain but I also experienced mixed sentiments in the early Seventies by both Left and Right in Scotland, Wales and England.

Hitched a ride on a tank regiment lorry heading into Leeds one afternoon and shared cigars with the guys on board. A great bunch of soldiers. They seemed to have more confidence in the US than our own troops at the time.

Can’t complain too much about France despite their being apologists for every anti-American nutcase. In 1977, I spent days in Paris with a Sorbonne student and time on the Cote d’Azur with a budding English model and a Moroccan hotel receptionist (not at the same time). The students at the Sorbonne were spouting off Maoist drivel (at the time I could understnad enough French to recognize the rantings of Chairman Mao). Along the Cote d’Azur, a number of towns were ruled by Communists but at least they weren’t in your face with all the propaganda.

Read “A Clockwork Orange” by Anthony Burgess. Britain’s sickness is traced to Socialism and its feeling of guilt (by Socialists).

So, their country is overrun by Muslim radicals, Jamaican drug dealers and trash from their former colonies.

And, of course, they won’t protect themselves like we do. THAT is why they hate us.

Leave London, stay away from Oxbridge, and you’ll find that the UK is filled with fine people. After all, those splendid British soldiers who fought by our side in Iraq had to come from somewhere, didn’t they? Their mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, are still living on farms and in small British towns. They might not agree with us about everything but their values are in the right place. It was not they who voted the leftists into office, any more than it was us who voted Obama et al. into office. Many of them are heartsick and weary at the nightmares taking place in their beloved country. More than 200,000 of them leave the UK each year. And while this might not be the best thing for the UK, one can hardly blame them.

It's envy.

Socialism does that. But it's not confined to America. They hate anyone who's successful, including their own countrymen. It's hard to express the depth to which resentment against achievement and success runs in that country. It manifests itself in mindless vandalism and violence. Anything of beauty or splendor is a target. The urge to tear down runs very strong. They've completely swallowed the lie that "equality" means everyone must be the same and anyone who's achieved success must be a crook. Bitter, bitter class envy.

I've spent lots of time (years) in Britain and the anti-Americanism stems from their own mediocrity and misery. They get a little "two up, two down" council house, a Ford Fiesta to buzz about in and enough money for a week in Ibiza in July and they think they've got it made.

At the same time, they're blind to the horrendous state of their own society, the loss of their Christian heritage which has created a huge spiritual void, and the demographic changes which are gradually turning the country into an Islamic mission territory.

Add to this a deep ignorance of the real America due to the fact that most have never been here and know only what they read in their atrocious tabloid fish-wrappers which pass for daily newspapers and you have a recipe for the sort of garbage written in this post.

I worked with a guy form Britain once, He was amazed at the distances we had to drive to get anywhere. I told him that America is a vast country, that other than the coastal states, is relatively sparsely populated. Then he went on about Our cheap beer and guns. I told him that there’s more guns in this country than people, and that we thrive on cheap, cold beer, and cheap plentiful ammunition. This completely dumbfounded the guy. He just couldn’t wrap his head around the concept that people still hunted for their food.

The surreal bizarreness of this particular crime obviously got to readers - Santa Claus shooting a small girl in the face, then mowing down everyone else in the house. It was like the Wichita and Knoxville massacres, except that the papers covered the story because the perp was a white guy.

The Daily Mail site is filled, every day, with British crime storirs that end in the police not showing up, or failing to investigate, or booking the victims instead of the criminals. Read it - it's a hoot.

There were already over 600 mosques there before 10 years ago. ...more than 1,600 there now? The Brits have been lying about Muslim population statistics in the UK and the USA, claiming that there is a much lower percentage there (UK) and a much higher percentage here (USA). They're not earning our trust.

“This is the story that this article quotes. I posted a comment about 12 hours ago. It was never approved.”

They probably won’t approve of mine either. Then again, the people running that paper seem to believe more in solipsism than in reality.

An idiot killed his family on Christmas. That’s sad. But 68 million & some odd gun owners didn’t kill anybody. These things are sad, but they’re statistical anomalies— most people don’t do those sorts of things.

Also, they printed the part about his flame thrower, but they missed an important point. If he hadn’t had his guns, he’d have just used his pipe bombs and flame thrower and the result would have been the same, except that the occupants would have been burned alive. And the wounds inflicted by pipe bombs or any other kind, are terrible, given that those explosive fragments have a higher coefficient of resistance going in, follow odd ballistic tracks inside the body and do so with far more energy than a rifle bullet pushing them. Given a choice of a bullet or a bomb fragment or severe burns, I’ll take the bullet, thank you very much. My chances of surviving one of those is a lot higher than the other two!

And these idiots still haven’t learned the lesson that is so obvious from their gun ban. Before the ban, all the cops had to worry about was the occasional Webley, Enfield, old war trophy Walther or Luger. Now, the Yardie gangs have MAC-11s built in some shop in Birmingham and Makarovs smuggled in from Bulgaria and the cops who decided that they were undergunned carrying MP5A3s, now carry G36s.

Pass a ban and the net firepower of somebody intent in mayhem goes up, not down, and the UK is proof of that.

For the last 11 years. while the Labour Government has been in power in the UK, Anti Americanism has been one of the methods of attacking Blair and Brown used by the left and right. The Tories and Lib Dems say nothing against this as they would use any means to get rid of Labour. In the end, there is no power group that has an interest in defending a Republican America. This is on top of 90 years of left wing subversion and indoctrination of the UK.

If we start now, it can be undone, but the US shows no sign of wanting to counter this sneaky Communist Revolution.

The Brits are just pissed that their women like our men.

I lived there and it was a piece of cake to take just about any women at any time from any Brit. Their adult males were nancyboys through and through. Their “men” were nothing but skinny little brats always crying about something and doing nothing about it. It was entertaining to walk into a pub and within seconds there would be a women looking for attention. Most women thought we had muscles like Rambo and talked like John Wayne and came from Texas.

Not quite as bad as the Germans I used to see in Miami who would wear their speedos (with the big beer gut hanging over, and that was just the women) at the bar of the Loews Hotel.

I’m an ex-Brit. I can tell you that they are oblivious to the ills of their society.

I visit my cousin in London, and as we walk through the streets of the East End, she refers to the gangs destroying cars/storefronts/public property in front of us as “bored youth”. She refers to the foul-mouthed children playing soccer in the park (and beating each other up) as “unfortunate”.

As British society collapses into filth, vandalism, graffiti and utter disarray, Brits continue to praise their “success” at diversity, ignoring the fact that the immigrants they *welcome* are in fact dismantling and defacing their country physically and spiritually.

The truth is the strong members of British Society have weeded themselves out over the past 300 years, emigrating to America, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Australia. The leftover Brits are weak, oblivious and optimistic in a utopian but completely unrealistic way.

The culture of Brits left in England is reverse Darwinism at work. The strong have moved to greener pastures. The weak have remained: glued to, but unable to defend, a crumbling heritage.

And the most belligerent of the lower-IQ-lingerers of the British Islands are those who post responses in news article comment sections.

Whoa. Quite a scathing assessment——pretty depressing but you obviously have a strong point of reference.

I went to design school in London in the early 70s...and have been back numerous times for business and pleasure. I was being sincere when I said I have been a diehard anglophile, but that it shifting for me and it feels like a type of mourning.

At the risk of sounding bigoted, even in 1973, central London streets were filled with aggressive middle easterners ( at least to me, as a young female college student) that dogged my every step muttering lascivious offenses. I was appalled but evidently this group carried the idea that “western” females were “wild” and deserved such treatment.

Nowadays when I travel there on business I am so struck how “all that is British” is dissolving before our very eyes.

The “host organism” that is the UK is being devoured by an aggressive onslaught from every direction, completely altering it’s DNA.

And the policy makers seem to be floundering, more desparate to demonstrate their progressive mentality ( ala, “Aren’t we high-minded? See how civilized we are”?) in embracing diversity than maintaining an intelligent balance to protect the traditional British way of life —which they are jetting right into oblivion.

They are selecting against their own DNA. A sad devolution for what had been the civilizing influence of the entire planet.
