How fortunate for the severely shocked and appalled Mr. Duncan that he didn’t injure himself rushing to media outlets to get out his statement about how shocked and appalled he is at these hilarious parodies of the appallingly hypocritical antics of folks in the political limelight.

Somehow I doubt he’ll grasp the irony of his action considering all the truly appalling things happening in politics these days.

‘”The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party,” RNC Chairman Mike Duncan said in a statement reported Saturday afternoon by Politico.’

How about running the show in such a way that the real conservative base supports repubs.

Gad what fools these people are.

The best hope for America is the complete destruction of the Republican party, and the sooner the better.

You sure you've expressed yourself wisely?

Again, I'm going to ask: How are you ever going to get sufficient numbers to win an election?

I don't think those who advocate getting rid of someone they consider not pure enough, do not think through their position.

Sorry, but the Big Tent approach just had its poster boy at the top of the ticket, and it was an abysmal failure. It amazes me to go through an election like we just saw, and then have these guys pop up talking about how we need to dilute our principles even MORE! Colin Powell and his ilk, who did what? Endorse Obama.

It does not work and it will NEVER work because a Big Tent GOP really doesn't stand for ANYTHING. Do you think Reagan won 49 states because all the masses agreed with his principles? NO. Democrats voted for him in droves because one of the few things the masses reliably recognize and will vote for is leadership executed with passion and conviction, no matter the underlying policy. THAT is why Reagan was so popular. He was STRONG. Big Tent Republicanism cannot possibly be strong; one cancels out the other.

Well, we apparently now know Duncan doesn’t listen to Rush’s show. Explains a great deal. Also justifies why he should be removed from consideration for this position.

I don 't know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, "We must broaden the base of our party" -- when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.

It was a feeling that there was not a sufficient difference now between the parties that kept a majority of the voters away from the polls. When have we ever advocated a closed-door policy? Who has ever been barred from participating?

Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?

-- Ronald Reagan, March 1, 1975 speech to CPAC

People like Duncan are totally, totally out to lunch. The ass-kicking they received in 2006 and 2008 hasn't registered with them yet. No, they still have the mindset that made them a minority party from the 1930s through the 1970s.

Sarah Palin, if she chooses to run in 2012, should seriously run as an Independent or on the Constitution Party. If she runs in the GOP primaries, all that's going to happen is Dems are going to cross-over and once again nominate the weakest Republican. I sadly predict that the GOP is going to get behind Romney, Huckabee, or Giuliani and kick people like Palin, Rounds, or Sanford to the curb.

So when are these idiot RINO’s, that are in a leadership position with the Republican Party, going to get it through their thick numb skulls that no matter what a Republican does or says, the liberal media is not going to like them. Especially when they are ‘shocked and appalled’. This only plays into the media's hand and now they can milk it for a long time that Republicans are racist. The facts be damned and so can the RINO idiots.

Sorry, but the Big Tent approach just had its poster boy at the top of the ticket, and it was an abysmal failure.

It is amazing that, just after the best known of the RINOs brought about one of the two worst Republican defeats since the 1960s, that the RINOs loudly proclaim the need to be even more RINO-like. Now that the pandering and reaching out didn't work, they prescribe more pandering and reaching out.

Getting close to the definition of insanity: when something doesn't work, do even more of it.

” Also Saturday, Peter Yarrow, who co-wrote “Puff the Magic Dragon,” called Saltsman’s decision to distribute the parody tune “offensive,” and “shocking and saddening in the extreme.”

“It is almost unimaginable to me,” Yarrow wrote in a statement sent to CNN, that Saltsman “would seriously be considered for the top post of the Republican National Committee. Puff, himself, if asked, would certainly agree.”

Yarrow, a member of the 1960s folk group Peter, Paul and Mary, was a contributor to Obama’s presidential campaign.”

Peter Yarrow, is John Kerry’s longtime friend and godfather to one of Kerry’s daughters.
Yarrow is also a convicted child molester.
Who was pardoned by Jimmy Carter.
But, he’s the good guy and Shanklin and Saltsman are the evil ones.

I would suggest that you not waste time appealing to black voters... I heard that song on Rush’s show. I think it sucks and do not think it helps the conservative cause. I know most will disagree so flame away.
