Local gun sales flourishing (Redding, california)

Redding gun stores haven't noticed the economic downturn felt by most of America this holiday season.

Just the opposite.

Owners of three of the area's largest gun dealerships say their sales have doubled or even tripled as hundreds of worried gun-rights advocates rush to buy firearms before President-elect Barack Obama and a Democrat-controlled House and Senate take power after January.

"After the election, there definitely was motivation," said Fred Drollinger, 53, of Shingletown, who picked up a new Kimber .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol earlier this month from Jones' Fort in Redding. "The Democrats have a very different view of guns" than he does.

Jones' Fort owner Patrick Henry Jones said that he's seen hundreds of people like Drollinger come into his store since November, tripling his sales of handguns, rifles, ammunition and reloading equipment.

"Everyone is nervous of Biden and Barack," said Jones, who also serves as a Redding city councilman

Yeah, right, Bob./sarc

"Bob Mulholland, a spokesman for the California Democratic Party, says such claims are fabricated, similar to the much-hyped Y2K crisis, in which people rushed out to stock up on food and survival gear for a worldwide computer crash in 2000 that never happened.

"In this case, it's just Republicans and gun manufacturers causing false rumors," Mulholland said. "It's completely irrelevant considering the problems facing this country today."

Some of those "problems" are the reason why Americans are arming themselves Bobby boy!

"In 2006 and 2007, about 7,200 firearms each year were purchased in California, she said. In 2008, some 11,517 guns were sold."

That's All? In The Whole State?

President-elect Barack Obama and a Democrat-controlled House and Senate take power

'nuff said via media promotion.

Personal freedom of thought is what has promoted such a buying frenzy.

It doesn't take the likes of "a rocket scientist" to figure that one out.

After Arnold won the recall, John & Kan (L.A.KFI640) were on the phone with him and called him Baghdad Bob -- the little child hung up on them. They were laughing for an hour!

They also say, “their sales have doubled or even tripled as hundreds of worried gun-rights advocates rush to buy firearms...”

As if no “ordinary citizens,” but only “gun-rights advocates” were buying firearms.

I guess to a certain extent, if you purchase a gun, it does sort of indicate you favor the right of an individual to own a firearm. But just how does that make someone an “advocate?”

These people are idiots, yes, but dangerous idiots.

My company has been interested in having me move from Colorado to Californis for some time. I have let them know that there is not enough money in all of California. What price do you place on freedom?

These gun buyers don’t realize they left a paper trail that would allow BATF to later confiscate their guns. I don’t know if private sales with no background check are permitted in California, but they are in Colorado if you are a state resident. Sales seem brisk on the on-line sites that list guns for sale within Colorado.

I did that in Dec 2000. All the "kids" are here in Idaho now. My youngest was in 8th grade when we moved. He was miffed. Eight years later, he has a different view. Some of his friends are room temperature today due to drugs and drive by shootings. By the time I left, even the "scenery" didn't make up for all the other faults. Especially as viewed from my car in the daily traffic jams.

I am really going to miss the weather -- and the familiarity (born and raised in L.A. area). But 10.5% Sales tax and 11% Property tax and God knows what kind of Income Tax is just too much for anyone.

Had California used the new money in the go-go 90's for specific pre-funded projects and saving for a rainy day, we wouldn't be in this mess. Instead, the b@stards wanted to go to bed saying "aren't I such a good person -- I did something good today" -- with MY money. THAT angers me more than anything. That these people think they are "good" because they steal from me and mine and give to those who are criminals (illegals) or just lazy. Yes, we need a safety net. My Mom used it. But it isn't supposed to be a lifestyle.

I can fix California's problems in one step: remove every social program started since 1990. We lived without them before, we can live without them now.

That and just insist on Proof of Citizenship for all current social programs.

Problem solved and we have a surplus to boot.

California requires an FFL to transact a sale between a private buyer and seller. The waiting periods are also applied...unless the buyer is a LEO. Some things can't be sold. "Assault weapons" have to be sold out of state or "surrendered". I think they even prevent "assault weapons" from being transferred within a family as part of an estate. If you "import" any firearms into the state of California, you are legally required to report all of them within 60 days.

Armed Republicans and unarmed dems. I love it.

Go to any gun range and it’s all Republicans and conservatives. Go to the matches and the training centers and it’s the same thing. Additionally, I love the way the liberals think just because they have grand-dad’s old over and under, they think they’re armed.

I love it.

Keep drinking that Kool-aid, libs.

I spent most of my life in Chula Vista and Mira Mesa. The familiar aspects of Chula Vista are fantasy memories today. The neighborhoods have made a major league demographic shift from a predominantly white middle class community to a black and hispanic community. Mira Mesa made a downhill shift from 1983 to 2001 when I finally sold my house. Frankly, I'm pleased to have my home equity extracted from that area. The gunshots, graffiti and drug deals were catching up with Chula Vista by the time I left.

Once again, a lying politician is uncovered. Poking around I found a reference to where gun sales in CA were normally ONE THOUSAND GUNS A DAY (that's 365,000 a year for you California Liberal lurkers) are sold in California.

I think this Dana Simas chick needs to go back to school.

I left Kalifornia 8 years ago (retired out of Travis AFB) and moved to Alaska. Shortly after arriving I decided I needed a bigger sidearm for when I take hikes around bears. I went into a store and bought a .44 magnum and after a few minutes I was on my way to the car with new gun in hand. I kept looking around to see if I was being followed by the gun store owners to tell me I couldn’t take my pistol yet. Then it occurred to me, I’m not in Kalifornia anymore and I can just buy a gun and take it home without waiting for freakin two weeks. It was a good feeling, kinda like freedom.

Gun “advocates” buying guns or simply citizens who clearly heard Obozo the marxist mention his special civilian police force on 3 seperate occasions?

As far as I’m concerned the media are whistling past the graveyard with these constant gun advocates/2nd. amend. stories. They KNOW the truth.

I left in 1984, and would say that it was all down hill starting with Pat Brown...but that is only because I don't remember much about governors "Goodie" Knight or Earl Warren; and only heard family stories about Pardee.

Gov Reagan was a bright spot, soon painted over.

I went to a local indoor shooting range yesterday to do some shooting, and couldn't believe how many people where there lined up with new guns purchased for Christmas. This was at 2 pm, and apparently the place had been totally packed since the door opened at 8 am... I had to wait 1 1/2 hours to shoot.

Lots of people there with 45 auto's, plus 38, 40 and 50 caliber pistols; guns with knock-down power. About 40% were women. Plenty of talk at the shooting range about worries that purchasing guns will become more difficult with democrats in control. Ammo sales were very brisk and in large quantities for the same reasons.
