When asked how they feel about President-elect Barack Obama as commander in chief, six out of 10 active-duty service members say they are uncertain or pessimistic, according to a Military Times survey.
In follow-up interviews, respondents expressed concerns about Obama's lack of military service and experience leading men and women in uniform.
''Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief," said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified.
Underlying much of the uncertainty is Obama's stated 16-month timetable for pulling combat troops out of Iraq, as well as his calls to end the ''don't ask, don't tell" policy to allow gays to serve openly in the military, according to survey responses and interviews.
Nearly one-third of respondents -- including eight out of 10 black service members -- said they are optimistic about their incoming boss.

IFFY...
He will be their commander in chief. They will need to respect and obey him accordingly, as distasteful as they may find it. Their oath is to the Constitution, which puts them under the President’s command.
Well, imagine that.
BUCK EWE, FARKY!
Disgusting how the media hides this important information for the election of every liberal democrat.
Of course they will.
He will overcompensate by acting irrationally trying to gain the confidence of the military. His perceived “strength” will get us in trouble.
Would you want to be in Barak Obama’s army?
Recruiting could become a problem.
What? Six in 10 troops have misgivings about an incoming C-in-C with Marxist leanings who will introduce open homosexuality to the military, slash their funding to pay for stimulus packages, deny them victory in Iraq (or at least not acknowledge it), and likely at some point place them under UN command and make them subject to the World Court?
How dare they?
Obama’s oath is to the Constitution, too. We’ll see how he protects it-— or not.
Yes they will. But it doesn’t mean they will like it or like him. We have sunk to a new low. He is a low life political hack who got elected cause he got all the dissatisfied to vote for him mindlessly as a block and we didn’t have the courage or smarts to nominate a real candidate instead of a dem party clone. Well, I survived Carter and will do the same with “the one”, unless he takes away our freedoms and then we may have the country tear itself apart. As in the words of the poet, “don’t look now, the joke’s on you!”
I served under the 'toon as CIC, so I sympathize. Yes, it will probably be distasteful for the majority, but they'll act in accordance with their oath.
They'll behave professionally, but I seriously doubt Obama will ever be treated warmly.
For example, 'toon visited my base, and troops were ordered to attend an event. They went, but there was no whooping and hollering. Simply polite applause and professional restraint, despite the handlers' attempts to get the troops rev'd up.
I bet one place Comrade Odinga - er, excuse me, Cousin Obama - is going to start sending them is to Africa, to enforce his will and the will of whatever party he is supporting there. We have never ever had a president who was so involved with foreign politics, particularly third world foreign politics, and I think this will emerge as a major problem.

"Yo, troops...!"
We no longer have a working Constitution.
LOL! Good job with the sign on the door.
Yeah, as long as they remain in the military, which many won't do. President Bambi will have to institute the draft and then, all those idiots who voted for him will be serving in various war zones LOL
I can't take credit for it. I snagged from another thread and didn't notice the signs till after I posted it.
6 out of 10??? That is awfully low. I bet the numbers are higher, it is just that some of them won’t say how much they disdain the Marxist.
“Would you want to be in Barak Obamas army?”
My son, 9, wants to be in the Air Force. If he still does when he turns 18, and the country is still controlled by the leftists, I’m going to have to ask him some hard questions like, “Would you obey an order to fire on American citizens protesting?” Stuff like that. Our soldiers will eventually be put into morally untenable positions unless our citizenry figures out they have made a terrible mistake.
Until their enlistment is up - which they will then vote with their feet. Expect massive movement out of the ranks in the next four years.

Yo! Separated at birth...
I witnessed what the Clinton years did to the Army. It really does hurt morale, when you know the CIC has no respect for you whatsoever.
We got through it, though.
Obama? Well, If I were still in the Army, I would want to KNOW he was legitimately qualified to be president (I’m talking about the birth certificate here).
Exactly: we will wait a year and see how many re-up.
I know more than one wounded warrior who were purposely dragging out their med-boards until after the election.
While there was no real enthusiasm for MeInsane, they would opt to stay in. Now they are fighting to get out. Sad!
“They will need to respect and obey him accordingly...”
When LBJ landed in EL Toro MCAS during Tet to give a speech, he was loudly booed by the Marines there.
Maybe you didn't get the memo. You gotta remember that the Constitution is a deeply flawed document because the Founders had a "blind spot" that prevented them from seeing "positive rights" (i.e. what the government MUST do for you), as opposed to "negative rights" (i.e. what the government can't do TO you).
Thus, it is our patriotic duty to correct the Founders' error, and break the constraints that are in the Constitution. This may be news to you, as it was to me, but hey, Obama himself has said so, and he's a Constitutional scholar!
Besides, it's a living document anyway, which means it has to be interpreted in light of modern sensibilities, not to mention foreign law.
So the way I see it, it means pretty much whatever anybody says it means. So if the troops don't like Obama, they can just tell him to go screw. That is, unless you're against the Constitution.
To all the black service men out there:
I hope you like your new bunk mate Biff! Better not plan a blanket party, cause that would be a hate crime.
Wonder how long it will be before we start hearing the “D” word? DRAFT.
When he landed in Hawaii to meet with the Vietnamese leader those of us detailed to meet the airplane (officers and EM's) were NOT allowed to wear our AF uniforms but had to dress in civies. The Dumbocrats have along standing hatred for the Military as they see them as the only real obstacle to their grab of total power.
It doesn’t mean they have to like it. Imagine 60% of our battle hardened military voting with their feet at the end of their enlistments. That gets us the Army of the 70’s all over again.
Last MSM report I read before the election was that the chosen one had “overwhelming support” fom the military.
“They Know There’s Something WrongObama Visits Marines; Met With Silence”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6Uaoh928AE
That has been my prediction as well. And I also feel he would send our troops in to Africa. Can you imagine, with John Effin now in charge of pirate control, how these clowns could have our troops in Somalia?
I have two nephews in the Marines, one was home at Christmas after completing boot camp. He is none too confident about the new CIC.

Is that Powell wearing a safety helmet backwards? The 'hood comin' to the White.. Uh, Brown House.
Is that his salute?? Or dear God, that man is going to be the LEADER of the military? And he can’t even manage to salute properly?
And on a day when China declares that we are drowning and Russia is rising.
I will say this about Obama’s visit. He’s not yet the president. That said I think the troops will stand after he’s president but will not cheer. Or, they will hand pick troops that WILL cheer if he does this again.
I doubt if we will ever hear it under Obaam. I dont think he particularly cares if our military becomes smaller due to lack of personnel. It would mean he could simply ignore it and our forces would be cut without his having to assume the blame.
Even at the worst times in the Soviet Union, there was one type of protest still left, and there was nothing even the brutal KGB could do to stop it: inefficiency.
It has even been suggested that while there was no attempt at disaster in the Iranian hostage rescue mission, the contempt for Jimmy Carter and his draft-dodging SecDef Harold Brown was so great, that many of the mid-range officers and NCOs were quick to abort the mission when things went south.
Nothing unethical, mind you, but they saw no reason to throw away their lives on an improbable mission ordered by spineless and duplicitous civilian leadership. Loyalty of subordinates is strained when superiors make their disdain for their subordinates known.
Bill Clinton. BH Obama. Two more men who demand loyalty without offering any. Who expect others to risk their lives solely because they are pawns, and sneer at them as being fools for having honor. Neither of these two men would dream of serving others, only themselves.
I do not expect mutiny, nor do I encourage it. But I cannot deny inefficiency to those of good judgment when their lives are at risk is far better than those asking them to risk their lives.
“Recruiting could become a problem.”
Worse than that, we might just end up with an all black military. Now that is scary.
They have to obey orders, but they do not have to respect the POS.
We still have the right and obligation to disobey an unconstitutional order.
Your insults reflect a lack of thought on your part. We are conservatives, or we are supposed to be. We are the thoughtful ones.
I’m sure that a lot of service personnel will leave. Others won’t.
I don’t live in New York. I’m insulted that you think so. I live in conservative old York, PA, and fit right in, and I have never even ridden in a limousine.
BTW, millions of men and women served under FDR, and that was after the new deal.
C’mon, let’s not be like the liberals and let hatred rule our actions and thoughts. I detest what Obama stands for as much as you do, but I intend to respect the office that he will occupy, and I do not intend to get Obama derangement syndrome. I hope you can avoid it, too.
“When LBJ landed in EL Toro MCAS during Tet to give a speech, he was loudly booed by the Marines there.”
What would have happened if they had booed their commanding general?
Conservative York, PA. LOL. What goes for conservative in the northeast would be a moderate at best in the south.
