The typical checklist for a hockey player traveling to a tournament reads something like this: equipment, jerseys, skates, clean clothes, socks, shoes, toiletries and meal money.
Some players bring an assortment of electronics, such as MP3 players, cellphones, laptop computers or portable DVD players, while others bring pillows and blankets.
But if you`re crossing an international border, even just to play hockey, a birth certificate and a government-issued form of photo identification are musts.
In other words, paperwork. Don`t leave home without it.

Duh. Three words:
State Department.
Passport.
We don’t see Canadians among the hordes of illegals working for US businesses. Nearly all of those preferred by US employers are from various countries south of the southern border, West Africa, and the like.

Canada doesn’t have a State Department, nor does the US State department issue passports for Canadians.
Gubmint being what it is here, I guess that Americans can sleep better knowing that Canadian high school hockey players are well watched so they don’t blow up World Trade Centers or fly airplanes into buildings while slitting stewardesses’ throats with box cutters.
Yeah, but don't turn your back on 'em for even a moment. Those Canadian high school hockey holy warriors will blow themselves and everyone on the ice to pieces at the drop of a puck.
