More than a thousand cars torched on New Year's Eve (France)

Update: The French press reported that the Interior Ministry released a final "verified" count of 1,147 vehicles burned in France over New Year's Eve. The number is up 30.64% from last year's total, 878.
REUTERS - At least 445 cars were torched over the night of New Year's Eve in France, a 20 percent rise on last year, but there were relatively few clashes with police, the Interior Ministry and police said on Thursday.
Car burnings are regular occurrences in France but the registering the New Year's Eve total has become something of a tradition since they achieved symbolic status in the violent rioting that shook many of the country's poor suburbs in 2005.

Hmmmmm - I think this is how America saves GM.
Import more mulsims. They riot every so often and burn cars. People then HAVE to buy cars. Make them buy GM.
Problem solved!

“There were few ‘contacts’ with police, gendarmes and fire services but an increase in the number of burnings for which we don’t have an explanation at the moment,” the official said.

At least 445 cars were torched over the night of New Year's Eve in France. One reason we do not have this in the US, yet, is because those car owners might be carrying a Bang-Bang deterrent.

Car burning must be the french way of showing their machismo. Get mad and go kill a car, that will show em. I guess it does make more sense than running down the street in front of a bunch of mad bulls. We have a lot to learn from those sophisticated uros don't we?

French authorities say more than 1,000 vehicles were torched nationwide on New Year’s Eve, an increase of about 30 percent over last year.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy called for strong measures against those responsible. He suggested suspending the driver’s licenses of the guilty until they have compensated the owners of the destroyed vehicles.

How about using a little Sharia law as in cutting off hands so not to light cars on fire anymore.

Sounds like a great idea for the US. Instead of bailing out the automakers we just torch a few million cars every year, or every time Congress passes a new tax. /sarcasm off

how do you get Muslim tradition? I might have missed that. The youth of France typically set fire to cars in Paris anytime they don’t get their way at least from stories I’ve seen posted here. Seems like six months ago there was this week long spate of car burning in Paris. As I recall, it was over an initiative to make it easier for business owners to fire people. “No more showing up late for work?! I can’t lay out and party when I feel like it without losing my job?! Burn cars now! Viva L’Revolution!”

"how do you get Muslim tradition? I might have missed that" Yes, you certainly did. Please go back over the past 3-4 years of news from Paris and you will find that it is the Muslim youths in the ghettos (forget what they call them exactly) who have been rioting and burning cars for almost any reason for some time.
Paris is surrounded by these "no go" zones, as are several major french cities. You'll probably understand better, in 5-10 years, as the emigration to the U.S. continues and becomes identical to the Muslim conquest (via emigration)of Europe.
To: sinanju
"Perhaps the muzzies are getting blamed for insurance scams? " More likely just another facet of the "religion of peace".
To: SuperLuminal
Thanks for clearing that up. The previous story last summer I don't think it mentioned that the "youths" were muslim. It may not be entirely a muslim thing, but ok. That being said, its been apparent for some time as you mention, that immigration is killing off the Republic as we once knew it. It isn't a racial thing, its just that most of these people are coming in with European or Islamic ideals which are not our own and flooding our country. At a time when unemployment is up... it would certainly seem a good excuse to shut the gate and say "we don't have enough jobs right now, but thanks for coming by, and here's a little Statue of Liberty souvenir you can take back to the hole under a rock place you just came from." (/sneer off).

More likely the police, gendarmes, and fire services are afraid to enter the banlieues, particularly after dark. The car burnings are “discovered” by the authorities in the morning.

And in Dearbornistan Ford wouldn’t even have to charge for delivering the replacements.

The French are paying for their years of “tolerance” and other liberal stupidities.
