Responsibility has a way of focusing the mind.
Take Mark Pryor, Democratic senator from Arkansas. In 2007, Mr. Pryor voted to move card check, Big Labor's No. 1 priority. And why not? Mr. Pryor knew the GOP would block the bill, which gets rid of secret ballots in union elections. Besides, his support helped guarantee labor wouldn't field a challenger to him in the primary.
Postelection, Mr. Pryor isn't so committed. He's indicated he wouldn't co-sponsor the legislation again. He says he'd like to find common ground between labor and business. He is telling people the bill isn't on a Senate fast-track, anyway. His business community, which has nimbly whipped up anti-card-check sentiment across his right-to-work state, is getting a more polite hearing.
It hasn't been much noticed, but the political ground is already shifting under Big Labor's card-check initiative. The unions poured unprecedented money and manpower into getting Democrats elected; their payoff was supposed to be a bill that would allow them to intimidate more workers into joining unions. The conventional wisdom was that Barack Obama and an unfettered Democratic majority would write that check, lickety-split.
Instead, union leaders now say they are being told card check won't happen soon. It seems the Obama team plans to devote its opening months to important issues, like the economy, and has no intention of jumping straight into the mother of all labor brawls. It also seems Majority Leader Harry Reid, even with his new numbers, might not have what it takes to overcome a filibuster. It's a case study in how quickly a political landscape can change, and how frequently the conventional wisdom is wrong.

There was a pro-union guest on the C-SPAN morning talk show today, putting a positive spin on the Soviet-style thuggery act. The campaign to promote this has not slowed down, yet.
Democrats: “We have the votes of the unions and blacks, they’re not going to vote for the Republicans no matter what. But why should we do anything for them? They will never be satisfied, and the moderates will be ticked off.
“The only problem is how to cover it up!
As a fellow Southerner, I wonder often how a state as conservative as Arkansas continues to elect Pryor to the US Senate????? Amazing.
That’s just “rope-a-dope”. The argument will be that card check is what will save the big 3....from the non-union south. So, it IS about economics.
Card check will just cause non-domestic manufacturers to locate new plants outside the United States. Toyotas and Hondas will be manufactured in Mexico.
With the majority of Americans in every political party opposed to the big 3 bailout in every poll, I doubt the RATS are dumb enough to push that bill now.
Just like in the Movie “Bullworth” You are black. Who else you going to vote for?”
Card check isn’t just about knowing how employees vote. It’s about union thugs constantly knocking at your front door on Saturdays and Sundays until you vote the “right” way.
Big Labors main target is Wal-Mart and the American economy be damned

Big Labor wants what they bought and paid for.
Americas unions gave the Democrats 52 million dollars in their effort to buy the Congress and White House. True to their We come first; to hell with the rest of you attitude now they want their payback.
Paying Big Labor back is high on the list of the Democrats to do list so we will soon see passage of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). Commonly known as the card check system of forcing non-unionized private businesses into union membership, it would strong arm virtually all American workers into union membership.
American workers dont want to unionize. Currently less than 10% of privately employed workers are unionized. When last surveyed, just 13% of non-union workers were definitely in should they be offered a vote on unionizing their job.
To stop its slide into non-existence, Big Labor and the Democrats have developed this plan to intimidate non-union workers into joining them and paying them and the Democrats for the privilege of their continued employment. They want the Democrats to forcibly do what they can not do in a free labor market.
EFCA will force open and free opportunities for non-union workers to say Yes or No to unionization under the watchful and intimidating eyes of union thugs.
With EFCA in place Big Labor will go after Wal-Mart. None of Wal-Marts 7000 stores is unionized. Its 2 million workers dont pay union dues.
Wal-Mart makes life better, if it goes union we all lose, but that means nothing to unions.
Wal-Marts marketing strategies have saved Americans 263 billion, cutting food prices 9.1% and general consumer prices 4.2% since 1985. Since 2006 they have provided the poor and elderly $4.00 prescriptions.
All of these savings will continue under unionization, but they will be diverted to union bosses and Democrats when EFCA comes in.
The obvious purpose of EFCA is to increase union membership, but the real purpose is to extort money from workers and split it with the Democrats. We have laws to stop this, but of course Democrats dont follow laws they dont like so our only option is to fight EFCA and kill it now.

Cue Simon Cameron: "An honest politician is one who, when he is bought, will stay bought."
And for big labor, cue the Ha Ha kid.
In my fantasy, the union thugs try to push card check at a Southern auto plant and the locals go all “Next of Kin”* on them.
Reid to the Unions: Guys, I really really would like to pass card check, but I have to rearrange my sock drawer.
It’s not that the Rats are dumb. It’s that they think we are. And about 50% of us are proving them right, I’m afraid.
The vast majority of voters are against the card check bill.
Absolutely. But do you really think that will make a difference to the Democrats? I don’t think so.
Yes, I do. The southern rats in congress will never vote for it.
All I can say is...I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT and I am wrong!!!
