Comedienne Kathy Griffin may be doomed to life on CNN's S-list after answering a heckler with a shrieking, vulgar tirade during the network's live New Year's Eve broadcast.

LIVE WIRE: CNN's New Year's Eve co-hosts Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper in a civil moment in Times Square, before live cameras catch her lashing out at a heckler with a vulgar insult.
As appallling as Kathy Griffin New’s Eve performance was, her performance while accepting an Emmy was even worse. Do not watch the Emmy’s either.
Since they chose not to use it, CNN clearly wanted the vulgarity broadcast.
I don’t watch CNN, but someone posted it on another site and I watched it. I have to admit, it was ... quite a unique comeback she had there.
Boy, you can’t buy that kind of class, eh? Thank heavens!
She eats with that mouth??? eeeewwwwwwww!!!!!!
I am not going to watch it on the You Tube , since I am not interested in garbage.
And this hagged skeezer is famous because...
Griffin is floating towards that land of Rosie O’Donnell - where the women are bitter, ugly, self-promoting, and come out once or twice a year to see their shadows and then flee back to their niches.
I don't understand why it is appreciated by anyone. We are a classless society.
Cathy, vulgarity isn’t funny. You’re not funny. You’re not funny because you rely on vulgarity as your comedic crutch. Maybe you should concentrate on actually trying to be funny instead of just being another foul-mouthed b*tch.
It might do wonders for your flagging career.
Guess I’m all alone on this one...Kathy’s humor is raw and vulgar..but I have to say I had to laugh.
She has two Emmys for her show Life on the D List. Does that explain how low “entertainment” can go?
To Struggle to be the best at the bottom of the sewer is what it is, I suppose.
Kathy is a huge liberal, but I think she is very funny. Why is Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy considered a “genious” for the same schtick??
Oh yeah, it is really funny, until it comes out of the mouth of one of your Children who thinks it is the norm to talk like a sewer rat..Big hoot. But Dad, I saw it on CNN news will be there excuse.
I’m with you. I was hoping the tape ran longer. She was just warming up.
Never seen the show. How badly does it stink?
SOmeone enlighten me.
I watched her prance around overseas for about 5 minutes....She fit the definition of "Ugly American" to a 'T'.
And (some) people wonder why other cultures have such a poor opinion of us. Let me present Exhibit 'A'.
Yeah , Richard Pryor.. didn't that foul mouth set himself on fire , trying to light up some drugs? That is really funny (sarc). Stupid and vulgar, and well now dead. As for Eddie Murphy, I did not realize he was a foul mouth as Richard Pryor.
I am fortunate enough to not run across much of her “comedy”, as I don’t watch the things she is on, but I have seen her from time to time. I can’t think of a more un-funny, talent-less, foul-mouthed, pathetic, attention whore, loser. She relies on nothing but vulgarity and juvenile potty humor. She appeals only to the basest mentalities and the mentally stunted.
I noticed you just joined Free Republic today, not sure this foul mouth Kathy Griffin is a Movie Star. Not sure knowing who she is is enlightening either. Welcome to Free Republic.
CNN...Not exactly a class act. They let it fly.
I think you just wrote what could be Kathy Griffin’s tombstone description of her life ... “un-funny, talent-less, foul-mouthed, pathetic, attention whore, loser.”
It’s a reality show that follows her around in her home, going to various venues and snippets of her shows. It does show a more human side of her from time to time—definitely not as sarcastic as her live performances.
Pryor and Murphy used foul language in their acts, true, but it was just part of the line of banter while telling a joke or a story. They didn’t just lash out at people with nothing but a profanity-laced verbal attack and then call it a bit. That’s all she has. She spews a bunch of verbal diarrhea and imagines herself as being funny and witty.
You don’t want to be enlightened. Stay in the dark...it’s better that way.
I don’t know who most of them are, either. I don’t know if it’s me, but looking at that picture of Ms. Griffin, I would have said it was a drag queen. She looks a tad on the masculine side. Perhaps that is why she talks like a trucker.
They really did since this was easily preventable. But then why hire Griffin at all if you're going to make use of a dump button? They had every intention of allowing her filth to fly.
I wonder if the companies who bought ad time on the show are happy?
Not in my world.
In short, another crappy, contrived “reality” show.
It wasn’t so funny when Michael Richards went off on his tirade, if the one that Kathy Griffin was talking to was say a Muslim... she would probably be on a hit list somewhere.
Well, seeing as how she’s pretty much a fag hag, and she’s with anderson cooper, and we didn’t hear what was said to her...I think the comeback is hilarious.
I can not tell you how much better I feel, since stopping all viewing of the news channels, Fox , CNN, MSNBC. I have stopped watching FOX, ABC, NBC, ABC for the last few months because there is nothing on them but trashy shows. I tried watching one show last night, Deal or no Deal, but when the game player on the show lost out on a big deal, she started crawling around on the floor, I said Ewwwwww... and cut off the TV. I am definetly going to get more hobbies, that do not include TV
Profanity is the first weapon the weak-minded grab in a verbal contest.
I can’t remember the last time I actually watched a network news program. They long ago quit reporting the news. I catch news hi-lights on the radio all day while I’m working, and combined with FR and other sites, I’m more informed about things than almost everyone I work with. It’s really sad.
I am not sure why they think it is funny or shocking to say such vulgarities, when they are so common in any sewer New York City.
BTW, nice attempt by her plastic surgeons to make her face acceptable to the masses. Sorry to say, they failed miserably as her lawsuits against them attest.
I would not cross the street to watch either Griffin or Cooper.
Is that why your user name is SHOUTING?
Kathy Griffin is one of the most conspicuously unfunny comediennes I’ve ever heard. I’m assuming that her CNN tirade was deliberate so she has more material for her crummy reality show.
It's actually one of the oldest anti-heckler comebacks in the book, but also one of the best in my opinion.
Because we have raised a generation or more of intellectually lazy people. Resorting to the basest levels of our being doesn't require any effort at all. It's almost like being on auto-pilot. Refraining from the easy profanity and engaging your brain requires more effort than they are willing to put out, and sadly, even if they wanted to, their education has been so stunted that they may not even be capable of rising any higher anymore.
This was her comment at the Emmy’s...how unfunny and sad is this?
Accepting an Emmy for her Bravo show in 2007, she said: “A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. So, all I can say is, ‘Suck it, Jesus.’ This award is my god now.”
Fox was on a 12 second delay, or at least it took the programming 12 seconds to come out on my digital TV. My watch is set by the atomic clock in Denver (if you were wondering how I knew).
Pryor was one of the best stand up comics in history.
Yep, vulgar. Yep, crude. And yep, like most stand up comics you can name, he did cocaine, and yep lit himself on fire ‘freebasing’.
But the man was absolutely HILARIOUS in his ‘prime’, just as Robin Williams once was.
