Caroline Kennedy Will Be Senator, Officials Tell AP @ 2:12 pm by Walter Alarkon
Caroline Kennedy will be named the successor in the Senate to Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), according to unnamed officials who spoke to the Associated Press.
The AP also spoke to two people close to Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) who said that he is still looking for his choice but that they believe Kennedy will be the pick.
Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, has been lobbying for the seat since last month. Paterson's choice will serve until 2010, when voters will choose someone to fill the remainder of Clinton's term. It's up for election again in 2012, which is the final year of her term.
Clinton has been nominated to become secretary of State in the Obama administration.

I left a shoebox full of fifties in a hollowed out tree in Central Park, and a folder full of compromising photos of me (stamped out in Braille) in that bus station locker, just like Patterson asked me to.
What the heck is this all about???

My guess is Obama has been leaning heavily on Gov. Paterson to appoint Caroline. The support of Uncle Ted early on in the campaign was a boost to the Chosen One, and now Obama is repaying the debt to the Kennedy family.

This is so incredibly frustrating on so many levels. Not the least of which, is with respect to competency and the suspicious eye (or what should be) of the media.
Despite Sarah Palin's somewhat rough showing with a handful of hostile interviews, she was/is unquestionably more qualified for elected office than Caroline Kennedy. Of course, everyone knows what the MSM reaction was to Gov. Palin. But, there has been ZERO critical comments coming from ANY Big Media outlets with regard to Caroline dubious qualifications to hold such a powerful and important position.
This is going to be a long, long four years. Barack Obama will be able to get away with anything.

What a great country! One can become a Senator without a single vote by the people and no experience, just a name from a dysfunctional family. (of course this is sarcasm)

One can become a Senator without a single vote by the people and no experience... Yup. But then, we elected a president with no qualifications, either. In fact, I'm not even sure Obama meets the requirements to be POTUS. The voters in this country deserve what they get. Sadly, most of them are so stupid they find it difficult to fog a mirror. (Indeed, in Chicago, even that's not required to vote!)

The US is done. This was a done deal from the word go. Kennedy is ROYALTY, not a candidate. And as a Kennedy she is automatically entitled to a high political position.
The election process is now completely worthless (has been for years). The country is run by various families and the political hacks that orbit them.
See my tagline.

I am one "unnamed official" that says Caroline Kennedy is far too light headed to become a US Senator.
If you doubt that I am an unnamed official, I could give you the names of at least 10 unnamed officials who will testify to that fact. They have, however, chosen to remain unnamed.

That’s probably true, but what kind of backlash will Paterson face in his own state? I doubt too many career Dems are too happy about Kennedy. I didn’t think she would ultimately be appointed, but I guess the Messiah is more important.
