Reid pressured Blagojevich not to appoint Jackson Jr. to Obama’s U.S. Senate seat

Days before Gov. Blagojevich was charged with trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, top Senate Democrat Harry Reid made it clear who he didn’t want in the post: Jesse Jackson, Jr., Danny Davis or Emil Jones.

Rather, Reid called Blagojevich to argue he appoint either state Veterans Affairs chief Tammy Duckworth or Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.

An Obama transition team spokeswoman would not comment, referring reporters to a report released by Obama’s transition team before Christmas.

As expected, Barry is using the weak tactic of hiding behind that sham internal report.

TOO MUCH TWIST

That pretty much describes the Democratic Party, doesn't it?

Let the twisted twist in the media wind.

Oh MY. I would think this little nugget should make it virtually impossible for Dingy Harry to lead the Senate charge to block Burris.

He was in politicking for the seat up to his eyeballs.
and his choice did not win. Wonder what Harry offered (not enough obviously).

For a long time, people around the country have held the impression that their local political corruption is just like Chicago's. It's not; Chicago corruption is in a league of its own, and anybody who gets involved will get dirty.

The only I am shocked by this entire Rod Blagoevich episode is if it turns out to be the most shocking revelation in the next four years.

The real question is which Democrat party hack was not badgering Blago? The stress must have been incredible. Hopefully Blago will testify against all these miscreants and they end up in prison

Chicago corruption is so corrupt it’s entertaining. I always read John Kass in the Chicago Tribune, have done for over 10 years. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of The Chicago Way and he has his fingers on the pulse. A very entertaining and well-informed columnist. Highly recommended.

No wonder Blago flipped Reid the virtual bird. I would have too.

Reid needs to come up with a report immediately that says he investigated himself and he did nothing wrong.

Yeah, I’m almost feeling sorry for the stupid guy. Heck, if I had all these numbskulls pressuring me for the seat, I’d probably say “What’s in it for me?” too.

Ok, I probably wouldn’t because I’m not a crook. But we all know they are all crooks, ESPECIALLY the Chicago branch of crooks. So it would almost be an anomoly that he DIDN’T ask for something from all the nimrods expecting him to place THEIR pick.

“Harry Reid hates black people.”

Most Dems hate blacks as well, even black Dems...they just need to keep blacks ignorant enough to believe what the Dems tell them and keep waving carrots in front of the slaves to keep them on the plantation.

I’d probably say “What’s in it for me?” too

In the book BOSS, Mike Royko mentioned that the unofficial slogan of the Chicago City Council was "Ubi Mea", which is Latin for "where's mine?"

Ping.

Isn’t this precious? So now we know why Reid and Durbin are so set against Burris. Like Jackson and Danny Davis, Reid and Durbin don’t think Burris can win the seat in a 2010 election.

I couldn’t figure out why Burris wouldn’t be acceptable to the Senate because he is as qualified as any other candidates mentioned and he is black. What else could they want? Now we know they want electability.

I guess it’s difficult for a Democrat to be elected unless they have the backing of the Daley machine and Jackson, Davis and Burris apparently do not. Duckworth and Madigan apparently do. The power behind all this are fascinating.

Blago is holding all the trump cards. He just played another one with this leak to the Sun-Times, which had to come from him.

On Fox News, it was just reported that Blago was stripped of his security clearance by the Homeland Security Dept.

......Reid and Durbin are dead set against Burris....

THIS JUST IN Chicagoans interested in measuring the girth of Burris' ego can stroll through Oak Woods Cemetery on the South Side............to admire the would-be US senator's huge erect tombstone......

I guess Reid and Durbin do not want ANOTHER erect member in the Senate (smirk).

PS: Don't even ask to describe the shape of Burris' erect tombstone (snicker).

An unidentified source told the Chi/Trib JJJ attended an Oct 31 meeting
sponsored by Oak Brook "businessman" Raghuveer Nayak..........The source told the Chi/Trib that Nayak AND Blagojevich aide Rajinder
Bedi told attendees a $million to the Governor would ensure JJJ
got Obama's Senate seat.

" I been in Congress 13 years. My earmarks totaled $231,000 as of 6/1/07.
There's plenty more where that came from IF they make me Senator.
I also told them guys to dump all the unsold Obama DVD's and to start
pushing my poster."

That’s why I crosslinked instead of hitting the abuse button.

The only abuse button I hit yesterday was on the person that posted a 4th quarter score (not even the final) in Breaking News. It got moved, so I was 1 for 1 for the day.

Reid declined to reveal the specific names discussed, saying he didn’t want to embarrass anyone.

IMO part of the reason the (D)s were against Bush wiretapping terrorists because they feared embarrassing conversations like this could be revealed.
