Will Media Report Reid Pressuring Blago Not To Pick Black Senators?

Imagine for a moment the Senate was currently controlled by Republicans, and the white male majority leader advised Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich not to pick a black candidate to fill president-elect Barack Obama's vacated seat instead pressuring the governor to choose between two white candidates, do you think this would get some media attention?

Probably every hour on the hour until the white majority leader was forced to apology and conceivably resign, right?

Well, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Saturday who Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told Blagojevich he did and didn't support concerning Obama's replacement, and irrespective of their qualifications, there was a clear racial divide in his preferences:

It will if we force their hand. Monday is an important day for those of us who have the luxury of staying in our pajamas all day. We need to write and call every radio station, reporter we know and start making a fuss. I have started working my posse. We have a great opportunity here.

Liberalism is racism. The “pat the little fellow on the head” thinking should piss off the People of Color — but as long as they get $$ why would they get mad at the gravy train for simple racism?

No. Only Republicans can be racists. Reid is a democrat. They have immunity from racism.

Jesse Jackson Sr. hasn’t weighed in because Jesse Jackson Jr. didn’t get the seat.

That said, the silence of the usual suspects is deafening.

Perhaps the good Rev. Wright could offer his unique spiritual perspective on this imbroglio?

I seem to recall that, when Romney was running for President, a lot of libs claimed that the Mormon Church was still institutionally racist. Like Romney, Reid is a Mormon. I wonder if the libs will still make that argument.

Do Freepers agree with the idea that a black senator must be replaced by a black and a female senator by a female? If the white candidates Reid supported are well qualified, I don't see the problem.

Sen. John Cornyn has weighed in, asking for Reid to publicly explain why Burris, Davis and Jones were not acceptable (that’s what Reid said in the phone call to Blago) and why Duckworth and Madigan were.

So even if the DBM’s not leading with the story, the GOP is on it.

Not only did Reid adamantly oppose the three most likely black choices (and now he's adamantly opposing a fourth!) but the "more electable" white candidates he endorsed the job are total lightweights compared to their black counterparts. Let's look at their respective legislative careers:

JESSE JACKSON JR.
Legislative experience: U.S. Congressman, 1995-Present. Elected 8 times. 14 years experience.

DANNY DAVIS
Legislative experience: Alderman (29th Ward), Chicago City Council 1979-1990, Commissioner, Cook County Board, 1990-1996. U.S. Congressman, 1997-Present. 30 years experience.

EMIL JONES
Legislative experience: Illinois State Representative, 1973-1983, Illinois State Senator, 1983-2008. Served as Illinois Senate President 2003-2008. 35 years experience.

Compared to....

LISA MADIGAN
Legislative experience: Illinois State Senator, 1999-2003. Elected on father's coattails. 4 years experience.

TAMMY DUCKWORTH
Legislative experience: None. Defeated in her only political campaign, her 2006 bid for Congress.

=====================================================

Someone please forward this info. to Rev. Je$$e and Rainbow PUSH as well as "The Committee for a Better Chicago" led by Doc Walls and send a copy to Burris' law office as well.

Let's get the word out. Reid HATES qualified black people and wants privileged white lightweights instead! Heh heh heh.

See my post #18. The white candidates Reid wanted are FAR less qualified for the office of U.S. Senator than the black candidates Reid opposed. Tammy Duckworth in particular brings nothing to the job besides being a disabled war veteran recruited by Rahm Emanuel.

Emil Jones would be interesting- IIRC, he helped Obama a LOT in his shady rise.

This is an urgent SOS from the white racist Harry Reid: Paging all rat racists dead or alive to repel Burris from the $inate Chambers!

Governor Wallace to Bull Connor: Please bring your fire hoses and attack dogs to repel Burris from the $inate Chambers!

GO HOME BURRIS. YOU ARE TRESPASSING! GET OUT OF MY LILLY WHITE $INATE!
