VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. _ Citing information he says is from God, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday that America is headed for veritable socialism as well as an economic rebound under President-elect Barack Obama in 2009.
"What the Lord was saying, the people are willing to accept socialism to alleviate their pain," Robertson said on a broadcast of "The 700 Club." Robertson hosts the program, which is aired from the Christian Broadcasting Network studios in Virginia Beach.
Robertson said the economy, particularly the stock market, could start rebounding by the second quarter.

This man is in serious need of an exorcism...
I guess he voted for Huckabee.
Must be why he backed Rooty.
Pat’s a KOOK.
He needed a special revelation to tell him that?
When did Pat Robertson become pro-abortion?
One doesn't need to talk to God to know that.
And Pat had nice things to say about Obama on CNN. Thanks Pat for endorsing socialism.
Was Robertson the one who drove the hurricane away from the US via prayer, or was that Jim Baker?
Ahithophel speaks, all hail Absalom!
Yeah, but the guy is a serious kook if he expects a rebound real soon.
Of course he's right. America already welcomed socialism when we had our ill-advised national orgasm for Obama in November. But the fact that Robertson says God tells him all this...well it makes him a charlatan.
Is this what the Bible meant by “False Prophets”?
I was thinking that he needed a reversed lobotomy.
Come to think of it, wasn’t Patty boy a close advisor to Bush. Maybe that’s where President Bush lost his way, listening to this kook.
It was Robertson and the hurricane was headed for New Port Richy. I remember that happening when I was living in Clearwater, FL. It was just a few miles off the Gulf coast when it retreated. I don’t believe the Rev. caused it to stop and retreat though.
We’ve already got socialism.
Yes. Him and that Hussein Soetoro guy.
Hahaha!! My one “friend” voted for Zero, but hates Robertson with a passion. This will tork him off for good! Too rich, man!!
I talked to the Lord this morning.
He said Robertson is a tool and the 700 Club is for dolts.
Pat has become a bit of a putz in his golden years but he is speaking the truth here.
Anybody catch Rush’s program (Wednesday I think) with the Dr. of economics sitting in (name escapes me). Classic program. He makes it quite clear we as a society have been welcoming socialism for decades and we will destroy any pol who doesn’t give it to us.
80% of the fed is unconstitutional welfare CRAP. And we get more of it every year and there is no way to stop it. Short of collapse or revolution. Even then we’d build it right back nearly as bad is it now is in short order.
he also stated in 1992 on Larry King Live, that God informed him George H.W. Bush would win the Presidency.
Plus, what Pat probably did not explain, is that Zero is very likely the False Prophet and will, with the constant assistance of the Evil One, actually bring about a seeming socialistic utopia. There’s a good chance that everything he puts his hand to will turn to gold. Thus all the world will run after him and when he introduces the Antichrist .... there will be total acceptance.
Stand by.
Most of these televangelists are, IMO. The only two I believe worth listening to are Charles Stanley and D James Kennedy, when he was alive. I used to listen to Robertson, but then I'm now a lot more conservative in my Christianity than I used to be.
Pat loves the sound of his own voice!!
And to think, Al Franken used to do parodies of Pat Robertson on SNL. Some weird kind of convergence is going on here.
"I say with humility, I hope Ive heard the Lord. I spend time praying and asking him for wisdom and if theres a mistake, its not his fault, its mine," Robertson said.
Robertson said on New Years Day that "nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the 30s," according to videotaped comments aired on Fridays show.
The New Deal consisted of economic initiatives, such as publicly funded job programs, that Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt promoted during the Great Depression.
Robertson said on Friday that with a New Deal-style initiative, "youre federalizing many of the things youre doing. And itll be the largest transfer of power to Washington since the 30s, but people are just willing to accept it because the pain has been so bad."
Robertsons predictions last year for the economy were pretty much on target. He forecast oil would hit $150 a barrel; it reached $147 last summer. Gold hit $1,000 an ounce, as he said it would, in March.
His prophecy of a stock market crash for 2009 came true, a tad early, in the fall. And his forecast of a recession proved true.
Robertson said Friday that the trillions of government dollars spent on economic stimulus could lead to hyperinflation that ruins the dollars value.
"Everybody here will have to pay more, imported goods will cost a lot more, and there can be a lot of pain and suffering," he said.
According to the Creator, "if Im hearing him right, gold will go to about $1,900 an ounce, and oil $300 a barrel," Robertson said.
In his 2008 prophecy, Robertson reported "the Lord was saying theres going to be violence and chaos in the world." The year saw terror attacks in Mumbai, India, and fighting in Congo, Iraq, Afghanistan, the country of Georgia and Gaza.
On Friday, Robertson said God told him Islam was losing its grip on Muslims repelled by the violence and bloodshed of a "religion of hate."
He also said Russia would create a multinational coalition to gain control of Middle Eastern oil supplies.
Robertson is going to leave his wife and marry Arianna Huffinton.
0bama is the Messiah...no?
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many.
12 And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold.
13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.
How many false revelations has this man received in his life? If someone is talking to him, it’s not God.
In this day and age, the fact that he doesn't ask for money on his broadcast gives him credibility. There must be many, many faithful believers in his church and who watch on TV who keep the program going through generous giving.
Walter Williams was the sub host for Rush.
“.well it makes him a charlatan.”
You are so very wrong about Pat Robinson on this! He was already a charlatan and a kook nutball, moroon.
I view with great suspect anyone that claims God talks to them more than He talked to Moses.
Yes. Another senior moment. They’re getting closer and closer together. One day I’ll just have to take that long walk in the woods.
Apply 20 cc of Thorazine and park him in a mall.
And that's the sad thing. Even if we got rid of the current crop of nogoodniks, the next election, an equally bad (or worse) set of nogoodniks take power.
He’s hearing voices again.
My wife took my daughters to see Twilight... she and the girls loved it. The movie has been out a month, and the theater was packed. There was a traffic jam to get in because it is by a mall. There were more shoppers than before Christmas. She took the girls to Applebees. They had to wait for a table at 5:30. The place was packed. It seems that things may be picking up-I hope so. The market was up also...I’m feeling more optimistic.
If this nation was suddenly thrown into a true constitutional republic with true free market capitalism ... 80% of the population would go mad, freak out and probably half of that percentage would commit suicide. They would think hell on earth had come to be.
Sorry, “rev”. Socialism is based on breaking three of the Ten Commands: coveting the wealth of another, so lies are told to excuse using government to steal their assets and ‘spread the wealth around’.
America (at large) has been leaning that direction in bits and pieces for a long time now my friend, as I imagine you well know. The Obamasm is the catalyst that makes the move virtually permanent.
As for more socialism...well what do you expect? I’ve long predicted that because of globalization/trade people are losing good jobs with benefits...national health care is coming. This is not a good thing. The current trade policy has been a disaster for this country. People who can’t get what they need from decent jobs will turn to the government. It’s inevitable.
Yeah, I think that was the plan and the Bush family were prime movers.
The Lord’s still waiting for you to check the air in your tires, Pat!
And 20% of us would get stinkin rich.
