VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. _ Citing information he says is from God, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday that America is headed for veritable socialism as well as an economic rebound under President-elect Barack Obama in 2009.

"What the Lord was saying, the people are willing to accept socialism to alleviate their pain," Robertson said on a broadcast of "The 700 Club." Robertson hosts the program, which is aired from the Christian Broadcasting Network studios in Virginia Beach.

Robertson said the economy, particularly the stock market, could start rebounding by the second quarter.

He needed a special revelation to tell him that?

Was Robertson the one who drove the hurricane away from the US via prayer, or was that Jim Baker?

Of course he's right. America already welcomed socialism when we had our ill-advised national orgasm for Obama in November. But the fact that Robertson says God tells him all this...well it makes him a charlatan.

It was Robertson and the hurricane was headed for New Port Richy. I remember that happening when I was living in Clearwater, FL. It was just a few miles off the Gulf coast when it retreated. I don’t believe the Rev. caused it to stop and retreat though.

Pat has become a bit of a putz in his golden years but he is speaking the truth here.

Anybody catch Rush’s program (Wednesday I think) with the Dr. of economics sitting in (name escapes me). Classic program. He makes it quite clear we as a society have been welcoming socialism for decades and we will destroy any pol who doesn’t give it to us.

80% of the fed is unconstitutional welfare CRAP. And we get more of it every year and there is no way to stop it. Short of collapse or revolution. Even then we’d build it right back nearly as bad is it now is in short order.

Plus, what Pat probably did not explain, is that Zero is very likely the False Prophet and will, with the constant assistance of the Evil One, actually bring about a seeming socialistic utopia. There’s a good chance that everything he puts his hand to will turn to gold. Thus all the world will run after him and when he introduces the Antichrist .... there will be total acceptance.

Stand by.

"it makes him a charlatan."

Most of these televangelists are, IMO. The only two I believe worth listening to are Charles Stanley and D James Kennedy, when he was alive. I used to listen to Robertson, but then I'm now a lot more conservative in my Christianity than I used to be.

The revelations are the product of his regular end-of-the-year prayer retreat.

"I say with humility, I hope I’ve heard the Lord. I spend time praying and asking him for wisdom and if there’s a mistake, it’s not his fault, it’s mine," Robertson said.

Robertson said on New Year’s Day that "nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the ’30s," according to videotaped comments aired on Friday’s show.

The New Deal consisted of economic initiatives, such as publicly funded job programs, that Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt promoted during the Great Depression.

Robertson said on Friday that with a New Deal-style initiative, "you’re federalizing many of the things you’re doing. And it’ll be the largest transfer of power to Washington since the ’30s, but people are just willing to accept it because the pain has been so bad."

Robertson’s predictions last year for the economy were pretty much on target. He forecast oil would hit $150 a barrel; it reached $147 last summer. Gold hit $1,000 an ounce, as he said it would, in March.

His prophecy of a stock market crash for 2009 came true, a tad early, in the fall. And his forecast of a recession proved true.

Robertson said Friday that the trillions of government dollars spent on economic stimulus could lead to hyperinflation that ruins the dollar’s value.

"Everybody here will have to pay more, imported goods will cost a lot more, and there can be a lot of pain and suffering," he said.

According to the Creator, "if I’m hearing him right, gold will go to about $1,900 an ounce, and oil $300 a barrel," Robertson said.

In his 2008 prophecy, Robertson reported "the Lord was saying there’s going to be violence and chaos in the world." The year saw terror attacks in Mumbai, India, and fighting in Congo, Iraq, Afghanistan, the country of Georgia and Gaza.

On Friday, Robertson said God told him Islam was losing its grip on Muslims repelled by the violence and bloodshed of a "religion of hate."

He also said Russia would create a multinational coalition to gain control of Middle Eastern oil supplies.

From The Gospel According to Saint Matthew Chapter 24 beginning at verse 11

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many.
12 And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold.
13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.

Dr. Charles Stanley is excellent. I learn so much from him; he is a true servant of Christ and is very effective in his teaching ministry.

In this day and age, the fact that he doesn't ask for money on his broadcast gives him credibility. There must be many, many faithful believers in his church and who watch on TV who keep the program going through generous giving.

My wife took my daughters to see Twilight... she and the girls loved it. The movie has been out a month, and the theater was packed. There was a traffic jam to get in because it is by a mall. There were more shoppers than before Christmas. She took the girls to Applebees. They had to wait for a table at 5:30. The place was packed. It seems that things may be picking up-I hope so. The market was up also...I’m feeling more optimistic.

If this nation was suddenly thrown into a true constitutional republic with true free market capitalism ... 80% of the population would go mad, freak out and probably half of that percentage would commit suicide. They would think hell on earth had come to be.

Sorry, “rev”. Socialism is based on breaking three of the Ten Commands: coveting the wealth of another, so lies are told to excuse using government to steal their assets and ‘spread the wealth around’.

I can go with the "charlatan" no problem, but as far as socialism ... ?

America (at large) has been leaning that direction in bits and pieces for a long time now my friend, as I imagine you well know. The Obamasm is the catalyst that makes the move virtually permanent.

As for more socialism...well what do you expect? I’ve long predicted that because of globalization/trade people are losing good jobs with benefits...national health care is coming. This is not a good thing. The current trade policy has been a disaster for this country. People who can’t get what they need from decent jobs will turn to the government. It’s inevitable.
