Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, announced at his staff's annual prayer retreat that God told him Americans would embrace socialism in 2009 "in order to relieve their pain" and that the economy would rebound under an Obama administration.
"The Lord said the economy of your nation will recover," Robertson told a group assembled at Founders Inn on the campus of Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va., a university Robertson founded.
Robertson said God also declared, "The steps taken will lead to a dramatic increase in the power of government. The people will welcome socialism in order to relieve their pain. Nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the '30s."
In a follow-up interview he granted to Terry Meeuwsen, his co-host on CBN's The 700 Club, Robertson added, "It will be the largest transfer of power to Washington since the '30s. But people are willing to accept it because the pain has been so bad."

Stuff like this makes me glad I wrote off Pat as a complete waste of flesh back in the 80s.

A major problem with socialism is that even when everything is socialized, the socialists still don’t realize they are living in a socialized economy, but instead insatiably want to control more.

But it is his persistent false witness against God and invoking of His name in vain that is really grating.

This isn’t exactly a revelation. The Republican party has been incrementally accepting socialism for many years to expand their voter base, merging its ideology with the socialist Democrats in the process. The result is a one party Republicrat system. It is becoming the downfall of democracy.
God only knows how many times Pat fell off one of his horses without his helmet on.
I know what I think about this... he needs to stick to preaching and stay out of politics.

This is worse than that time Oral Roberts said that if people did not send him money, God was going to “call him home”. I don’t even remember what year it was....I think 1987 because people had bumper sticker that rhymed and said “Send Oral to Heaven in ‘87”

I am a Charismatic Christian (NOT the type of Pat Robertson, though) and I DO believe that God speaks to people, but what Pat’s saying is definitely NOT from God!
We will NOT accept a socialist state! I am amazed that a person who claims to support conservative values would (1) endorse Rudy Giuliani for President (who’s socially liberal) and then (2) praise Obama and basically say that he’s going to “save” the U.S.????
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN????
Ol’ Pat is pretty loony, but in his muddled-brain way, I think he’s essentially right on both counts:
1. The American people DO seem to be (unfortunately) accepting socialism as a panacea for their ills. Witness the Obama voters who think that everything is “going to be all better” once Zero gets into office. And he’ll pay their mortgage and gas payments, too!
2. The economy WILL eventually recover. It will do this in spite of Obama, however, not because of him.
Now just lay off of that “the Lord told me XXX” crazy talk, OK, Pat?
I can’t believe people sit around and believe this guy has God on his speed dial.

He should shut up since last year he predicted the economy would collapse and oil would go to 150/barrel. How wrong can you be?

Pat must be jonesin’ for that spot that Rick Warren has in hopes for official advisor to the President to placate the Christian masses.
