Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid didn’t want Rep. Jesse Jackson in the Senate, a point he made clear to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in a conversation about filling Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The Nevada Democrat made one call to Blagojevich on Dec. 3 to discuss the seat vacated by the president-elect, Reid spokesman Jim Manley confirmed. Six days later, authorities arrested Blagojevich for allegedly trying to sell Obama’s seat.

Obviously Reid wants no blacks in the Senate. But he is not a racist. He is a Democrat. They are immune.

Wow every day more good news.

Harry is on the tape. If he were a REPUB the MSN would be screaming for him to resign from the Senate immediately.

But Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero says the call shows Reid has a conflict of interest in vowing not to accept Burris for the seat.
Interesting point there. I wonder if Reid would be opposed to seating a Blago appointee if Blago had appointed Tammy Duckworth or Lisa Madigan?

I think Reid telling the Gov who he does or does not want appointed is normal politics. Unless of course there was some quid pro quo.

it’ll be fun to see what Reid was offering politically to get who he wanted or what Blago wanted in return for picking one of Reids, guess Reid didnt offer enough, here’s betting Blago wanted the seat in 2010 when it came up. Something’s going on here, I suspect when Obama got elected, Blago knowing where the bodies were buried was bullying for a cabinet post, Bama refused, Blago said screw you, tried to sell the seat, Obama and Rahm dropped him in it on purpose to destroy the credibility and take him out and now Blago is refusing to play ball, seems like a war is in the offing.

Harry Reid is up for election in Nevada in 2010. We CONSERVATIVES need to organize and invest in getting this guy out of office.

We could start by digging up the mother load of corruption that just awaits an enterprising Conservative Woodward/Bernstein type reporters to dig up in his home state. Just researching the stuff that has already been written could fill a BOOK....

Our great Republican Party would never do this because they want to reach across the aisle and play nicy-nicy so we will have to.

They’re all ageist/racists who use power as a witch like substitute for their deaths and wasted liberal lives.

They want us, from babies to elderlies, to all hate life the way they sickly do. Dialectics are at play.

Of course Reid is a racist, and that is part of the liberal panoplie of fascisms that include Nazism and Leninian Empowerment doctrine.

I have a constitutional problem with Governors doing the choosing of who fills a vacant Senate seat in these circumstances. Under the Constitution of the founding fathers, the senate was a body of the best, chosen by state legislators for the benefit of the state.

When the amendment to the US Constitution was passed, that made Senators another body of legislators, representing the people rather than the states, the entire legislative system the fathers had envisioned IMHO became totally screwed up.

In addition, the amendment did not change the method of choosing the vacating senator’s replacement from the interest of the state, ie governor, to the interest of the people, in the general body of citizens in the state. So IMHO the people should be doing the choosing, or better yet get rid of the amendment that changed what the founding fathers had in mind.

Basically, the fate of the nation, is placed in the hands of a few governors, in the situation now existing, where enough seats are in question due to other appointments in the Obama administration that the senatorial balance of power is in governors hands. instead of bodies of state legislators doing the choosing.

Unfortunately those are hard to come by. Woodward may be receptive to the idea if he is interested in truth. I understand that he wrote a book about Bush that gives him a reasonably fair shake. Haven’t read it, so can’t give a personal opinion on it.

Getting rid of Reid is doable.
Here in South Dakota we did the same to Tom Daschle, who was overwhelmingly re-elected time and again until 2004. He had become an embarrassment to the voters of SD with his “senator no” antics, so we released him from his congressional responsibilities.
The same can be done to Reid.

I hope by election time that those phone calls will be public record and you can paint Reid as the racist, Dumb A$$ that he really is. Please retire that guy.

I want to see the whole list of folks who talked to Obama or Blago about this. I bet it doesn’t stop with the names we’ve heard so far.

I would not be surprised if Reid opts out in 2010.

Shades of Asian Parliament fist fights.

They’re all part of Congress of Thieves, Obama show included. The media is guilty and theirs with McCain’s CFR. There is no president, really, just a show puppet of color.
