EBay’s retiring chief executive may be considering a run for California governor

Meg Whitman, who has been involving herself more deeply in the Republican Party, is said to be asking questions about the logistics of a run, sources say.

January 25, 2008

As she prepares to depart from EBay after a decade at the helm, Chief Executive Meg Whitman appears to be investigating a new career – in politics.

Whitman has talked with top Republicans about the possibility of a run for California governor in 2010, according to three operatives who have had discussions with her. Whitman is said to be asking detailed questions about the logistics of a run and the impact she could have as governor, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to reveal the conversations.

Who are the shareholders? The tax payers. Not the unions, the teachers, illegals, or liberals who think that money grows on trees.

The perks of capitalism. You can retire as CEO and retain your position on the BoD. She will need to resign from the BoD to run for office.

Since the article says she is resigning from the BoD, that’s a dead-on clue that she IS running for Gov.

I’ll bet she would know how to auction off the stuff Caifornia doesn’t need.

She was ticketed for big things in the “McCain Administration.” Amnesty for illegals, global warming, and you know the rest.

The California Republican Party is broke. They would love to see Whitman run because she can self-finance her own campaign.

I know nothing about her politics but suspect she’s a liberal on social issues but perhaps a big improvement over Arnold on fiscal, budgetary, and management issues.

What's so (bleepin) superior out where you live???

Politics, where the less talented and less beautiful can still get into showbusiness of sorts!!!

believe me nothing is superior about where I live (Ohio), but quite frankly being the Gov of a state like CA, if you are a conservative is a thankless job. However your point about less talent\less beautiful is well taken.
