Faith Of A Child
Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3
One Sunday I heard Mike talk about his relationship with his two fathersthe one who raised him as a child, and his Father in heaven.
First he described his childhood trust toward his earthly father as simple and uncomplicated. He expected his dad to fix broken things and to give advice. He dreaded displeasing him, however, because he often forgot that his fathers love and forgiveness always followed.
Mike continued, Some years ago I made a mess of things and hurt a lot of people. Because of my guilt, I ended a happy, simple relationship with my heavenly Father. I forgot that I could ask Him to fix what I had broken and seek His advice.
Years passed. Eventually Mike became desperate for God, yet he wondered what to do. His pastor said simply, Say youre sorry to God, and mean it!
Instead, Mike asked complicated questions, like: How does this work? and What if . . .?
Finally his pastor prayed, Please, God, give Mike the faith of a child! Mike later testified joyfully, The Lord did!
Mike found closeness with his heavenly Father. The key for him and for us is to practice the simple and uncomplicated faith of a child.
Have you noticed that the childlike faith
Of a little girl or boy
Has so often shown to older folks

Good evening to you dljordan, thank you for stopping in this evening, and telling us your least favorite foods.
This is so fun to read!
To: Hoodat
WOW! How much of a coincidence is it that the very first LEAST Favorite Food is BEETS! Beets taste like dirt, in a bad way. Trout can taste like dirt, too, but in a good way.
Second and third Least Favorite Foods - although they are actually drinks, so I don’t know that they count. First is any form of sherry - doesn’t matter if it’s the best or the worst. The second is buttermilk as a drink. Yuch.
Other than that, I’m pretty much open to experimentation. Fried shrimp heads give me the creeps, but I’ve eaten them (on a dare). Baby squid are actually pretty good. Sea slug, yes, I’ve had it (it had a fancier name on the menu). Eaten off the street-vendor carts in Tijuana (and Los Angeles) and am still alive.

It's said that a language Is reflective of the culture in Which it exists.
Like the decisive yet flowing Beauty of Italian, The heady rythmic sensuality Of Spanish, The casual aloofness tempered By romantic promise Of French.
Then there's English, Thick with the assimilations, Forced or otherwise, Of a thousand others Who came before. There is no denying Its' power in the world.
Or the eskimoes, With their gazillion words For snow.
Scottish people have Just as many different words For rain And being drunk.
(Just in case anyone's interested - fou, stoatin', steaming, miroculous, gubbered, battered, bevvied, reelin', stocious, jaiked, blootert and fleein' - all mean drunk in Scotland.)

Peaches are one of my favorite things about summer. I just love a fresh peach, especially one so ripe I have to eat it over the sink.
