Reply from Saxby Chambliss--Misperception continues to be perpetuated

Posted on 01/05/2009 6:14:11 PM PST by dascallie

Extremely frustrating.

The reply to the many citizen letters concerning Obama eligibility, repeat the same refrain... that Hawaii has verified Obama was born there.

BUT Hawaiian officials have not. They have NEVER made any statement that Obama was BORN in Hawaii. If they did, it would help quell this matter. They have finessed their responses to avoid that very statement.

Hawaiian officals have ONLY claimed to have Obama's birth certificate on file..but not it's origin--is it KENYAN?

We now know that Hawaii ALLOWED foreign children to register COLBs as residents of Hawaii --probably to enable administrative convenience in things like school registration, etc.

A COLB is a Certificate of Live Birth --NOT a Birth Certificate that includes proof of birthplace-- hospital, doctor name, weight, length, parents and doctor signature etc.

Hawaii officials carefully worded official statement below:

"Citing her statutory authority to oversee and maintain Hawaii's vital records, Fukino said she has "personally seen and verified that theHawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

Response today from Saxby Chambliss:

Dear XXXXX

Thank you for contacting me to share your concerns over President-elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the United States Constitution states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." President-elect Obama demonstrated his citizenship during his campaign by circulating copies of his birth certificate, which showed he was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

On December 8, 2008, the Supreme Court declined to hear a case filed by a New Jersey attorney, Mr. Donofrio, regarding President-elect Obama's citizenship. Unlike many of the lawsuits regarding President-elect Obama's citizenship, which claim he was really born on foreign soil, Mr. Donofrio's case concedes that President-elect Obama was born in Hawaii but contends he still held foreign citizenship at birth. Mr. Donofrio's lawsuit argues that since President-elect Obama's father was a Kenyan citizen and therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of President-elect Obama's birth, then Obama was a British citizen at birth and not eligible to be President of the United States.

Another attorney, Mr. Berg, has filed a lawsuit regarding President-elect Obama's citizenship and is waiting to hear whether the Supreme Court will take up the case or not. A federal judge in Eastern Pennsylvania threw out Mr. Berg's lawsuit in October, saying he lacked legal standing to bring the challenge since he could not show he faced individual harm even if he could prove his claims about President-elect Obama's citizenship. The judge did not get to the merits of the case. Mr. Berg is appealing the standing issue to the Supreme Court.

If a person is born in the United States, a certificate of live birth issued where one is born is sufficient proof of U.S. citizenship. The certificate, confirmed by the Hawaii Department of Health as authentic, shows that President-elect Obama was born in Hawaii.

He is full of it and he’s covering up. All the scumbag has to do is release his birth certificate, that is the documented, verified and unaltered original one.

Why would anybody spend almost a million dollars of (other people’s money)to divert attention to a $10 certificate.

Perhaps there’s something that Frank Davis’s child doesn’t want anyone to know!

Nobody, and I mean nobody in power wants to deal with this issue. I’m sure someone on FR will still be dabating this 4 years from now but right or wrong no one in power is going to contest Obama’s citizenship. Why? They don’t want to be responsible for war in the streets.

He’ll always be Barack the Kenyan to me. If he was an American, this wouldn’t have been a big deal “historical” election. According to the Obamedia, he’s different from me in some way.

I would gladly trade four years of Obama in exchange for six years of Chambliss acting like an actual Conservative.

I can’t respect someone who claims victory while refusing to comply with requirements.

Why would anybody spend almost a million dollars of (other people’s money)to divert attention to a $10 certificate.

To portray all of his detractors of being right-wing lunatics when he finally does produce the long version BC proving he was in fact born In Hawaii. Then Obama proceeds to explain he didn't produce it earlier for fear he might embarrass his family because the long version will say Stanley was not married to Barack senior when Obama was born. Or it will say his religion at birth was "Muslim" and he will say it was stated as such because his father was Muslim and he was afraid the far right wing would smear him with the information. He will apologize, sort of, but if anyone questions him further they will be labeled a "racist" and we will move on. Obama will seem like the victim and the accusers who claimed he was not born in the United States will be the bad guys.

That is just one possible reason Obama would not produce his birth certificate. Maybe Obama thinks people seem silly making these accusations after the election when clearly Obama's opponent did not think it was a legitimate complaint. The fairly conservative SCOTUS passed on hearing the lawsuits. All of the leading conservative media celebs are passing on the story. What is this? A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy to silence the COLB Truthers?

I can understand not giving out your medical history; many presidential candidates have done so (FDR, JFK, Clinton). I can also understand a candidate refusing to release their military history (Kerry). Nothing in the constitution requires that a presidential candidate (or a President) has to be physically fit or have an honorable discharge from the military to take office.

However, there is a constitutional mandate that the President of the United States must be a natural born citizen. So why doesn’t the next POTUS not prove to the American people that he is a natural born citizen, especially when there is a question about it? He either has something to hide or is so arrogant that he feels he doesn’t have to prove anything.

And the SCOTUS keeps turning down the opportunity to close the question.

Most American would even be able to accept it if an independently commissioned group (made up of equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats) be given access to his birth certificate and give a pronouncement as to his eligibility. Or better yet, SCOTUS be given a “peek” and give their opinion. JMHO!

If a person is born in the United States, a certificate of live birth issued where one is born is sufficient proof of U.S. citizenship.

Unless you want a US Passport! A couple of years ago the State Dept rejected my application that included a Washington, DC certificate of live birth. I had to get an "original" copy of my birth certificate.
