As he stands on the sidelines, seemingly oblivious to what's going on in the world, President-elect Barack Obama opts out of the game by proclaiming that there's only one president at a time.
That's another way of saying, "Let George do it," when the Middle East erupts in violence, the economy continues to slump, and the governor of his state defies demands that he step down.
His almost nonchalant approach to the turmoil around him has thus far protected him from adverse reactions from his real base -- the media -- but that immunity from harsh criticism has not extended to his political base, the far left. They are after him hammer and tongs.

He may have chosen a few bomb throwers to serve in his Cabinet or the White House, but that hasn't satisfied the more dainty of the lefties who are appalled at his selection of Pastor Rick Warren, who committed the unpardonable sin of not only opposing gay marriage, but actually promoted Proposition 8, which banned the aberration in California.
Up on Capitol Hill, the Democrats are out of sorts because he failed to act more quickly on his planned stimulus package, and Barney Frank -- an openly homosexual Democrat from Massachusetts -- is enraged over the choice of Rick Warren.
They simply don't buy his only-one-president-at-a-time alibi. They want him to start acting presidential now, and all he's been doing in Hawaii is physical exercise (when he's not showing off his pecs to the ga-ga media).
The left is also unhappy with the economic team he's assembled -- a group of moderates who embrace traditional approaches to economic policies rather than the openly socialistic nostrums the Marxist wing of his party cherishes.
His problem with Congress lies in the fact that Congress never accepts responsibility for anything. They shift whatever blame there is in any situation downtown to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. but wallow in the glory of anything that goes right.
The boys and girls on Capitol Hill were more responsible for the current economic mess that any other entity, but they shift the blame to the Bush administration, which had in fact tried to forestall the crisis and was blocked from acting by such top Democrats as Barney Frank and Sen. Chris Dodd, who were drinking heavily at the money fountains of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac.
The fact that they haven't done anything worthwhile is all Obama's fault, and starting on January 20 they'll blame him for anything that goes wrong. His honeymoon will more quickly resemble a marriage on the brink of divorce rather than a joyous romp at Niagara Falls.
All this, sadly, is simply a sign of the decline now evident in Washington with the utter absence of backbone and leadership.
The taste of Barack Obama's triumphant victory could well turn out to be ashes in his mouth rather than that of honey. He has climbed the hill to the top and found it covered with thorns and thistles and poison ivy, instead of the roses he expected.
Shortly after the Bay of Pigs fiasco, Sen. Barry Goldwater dropped by the White House to see his friend and former Senate colleague President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
When Barry asked him how he was, JFK looked at him, threw up his arms and said "What a lousy fouled up job this has turned out to be."
Welcome to the White House, President Obama. Enjoy your stay. Have a great New Year. You are in our prayers.
And Happy New Year to one and all.
I still have trouble praying for Obama.
Instead I pray for my country.

Yep, he's been quiet on Gaza, but he held a presser today on his stimulus plan.
He’s voting “present.” Nothing new here.
Very good.
As a prayer warrior, I agree. I have a hard time praying for him. I will pray for the country instead.
Obama: Things are bad. They will get worse. They must get better.
sadly, the easier prayers are the wrong ones! :(
I don’t pray for Hussein either. I would rather pray to God honestly THAN PRETEND to like this jackhole.
America is bigger than the president.
Anything negative and he's been in hiding.
It won't change once he's President either. Even when he's been anointed he'll still dodge the bullet and let previous administrations take the blame for anything that's negative while trying to reap credit for any positive. You watch! Obama in two years if Iraq looks good will have the “audacity” to take credit for that!
“I dont pray for Hussein either. I would rather pray to God honestly THAN PRETEND to like this jackhole.”
I pray that those Americans who voted for 0 see the grave error they made.
Ole Obama baby is meeting with Nancy and the gang on a stimulus package but can't say ANYTHING about Israel?
COWARD and a HYPOCRITE.
Just wait till January 21, when he tries to walk on water!
Democratic Underground :Moderate American Jews Need to Take Back the "Israel Lobby"
Do socialist nations ever stick up for anyone else? He’s doing what he promised. Change.
> I pray that those Americans who voted for 0 see the grave error they made.
The only “god” those Obama voters deify is the Magic negro himself, the One, the “messiah”...
I don't envy anyone who takes the job of POTUS. Campaigns are fun. You get to talk to a lot of people. You get to give rousing oratory to adoring crowds. It's a race and a game and people like races and games. Especially when you win and they like you, they really really like you.
Governing is difficult and boring. You sit in meetings all day and have to make difficult decisions you have to sell to the media and the public at large. You have negotiate with other self-interested people to get things done. You have to manage conflicts within your own staff and Administration. I certainly hope Obama is up for it.
He, like everyone else in the world (spoken or unspoken) wants Israel to destroy Hamas in one decisive blow. If/when they do so, commenting on the situation will be much easier.
LoL! The poor bastard is in for a ride.
I hope the country withstands it.
There, all fixed.
(He will soon learn that terror strikes and economic calamities are not subject to reversal merely by hinting at the prospect of racism...)
Cheers!
I think the best advice for Obama is keep your friend close and your enemies closer. There’s no doubt that there are more Liberal Dems envious of Barak’s “star power” than there are Republicans.
So if you have to pray for the country say a quick prayer for Obama, because he’ll find keeping us closer is a good.
Obama has a big imagination, and his vision of the world is (naively) gigantic. But the world of the White House is tiny. Read Haldeman's diaries or other inside accounts to discover just how stifling and claustrophobic it is. Obama wears his trademark relaxed smile now. By 2012 he will be all gray and look like he went 8 rounds with La Hoya, beaten down by the job.
Cheers!
At some point Obama will wet his pants. Of course, the media will spin it that he’s walking on water.
The man scares me. I pray for America.

It is tragic for America that the dolts and fools that voted for Hussein did not have the mental capacity and IQ that would have helped them be afraid too, before they voted for this charlatan.
He can stay on the sidelines regarding Israel and HAMAS for now and I won’t condemn him for it. If he interfered, we would condemn him for that too and, as I see it, the less he says on the matter, the better. Silence is tacit support. The truth of the matter will be revealed come January 21st or shortly thereafter.
Yes it is.
Most of my family are dolts and fools and this is one told you so I can’t relish.
America is more centralized than EVER before. Because we have moved in this direction and Washington does have more influence than ever before he will have a great degree of power. From education to health care, from parks, abortion, and what defines a family or marriage, the federal government in the last 50 years because it has expanded in it's scope and depth has more influence in your life. They already dictate down to a level where they tell you what light bulb you will use!

I don't know if America is bigger than he is. Usually I would say yes, because the bureaucracy and checks and balances in place would sort of resist change and reduce wacky or radical moves. The limits of power to the Federal government would contain the stupidity. But who is there? Most states have Democrat governors! The House and Senate is in Democrat hands. The SCOTUS is divided. The Federal government has more power than ever before at the States expense. He's not even president yet and he's already advocating the largest expanse of Federal manpower non-defense related in our history. I think Obama will attempt to be “perceived” as being centrist, at least in the beginning. However, pressure to deliver from those that backed him, his own idiology, many in his former Senatorial ranks that share his far left sentiments will eventually cause the true Obama to surface and little stand in their way.
You nailed it. He’s just ‘above it all.’
Riiiight. Hussein has "manager" written all over his resume.

Hmmmm. Haven't heard much on the subject from the Saudis, Jordan, Egypt.

Then The Hood still has to do about five days of worship rituals.

My lefty parents can’t stop talking about Obama (knowing that I escaped the plantation and am a black conservative Republican), and all of the arguments that they put forth in favor of him are the exact same arguments that they would have shot down in a HEARTBEAT were they applied to the current President (or any other Republican president).
It is - if such a dichotomy is possible - infuriatingly hillarious.
Why would you hope Oboomba is up for it? I hope he fails miserably from day one along with the other Clinton leftovers he has brought into his administration. The only way America will ever recant & turn back its' experimentation with marxist-socialism as well as throwing Oboomba out of office in 2012, is to experience first hand the devastating effects of socialism -- massive economic failure, govt ineptitude, mindless bureaucracies, massive corruption and inefficiencies at every level.
Anything less than massive failure at every level will be covered & glossed over by the fawning drive-by-media, hoping to score another one for Oboomba in 2012.
This from the same man who when to Iraq and tried to undermine the President during his campaign. Hypocrite.
I don't even quite do that. I pray for God's Will to be done in our country.
This is a prayer from the Presidential Prayer Team website (http://www.presidentialprayerteam.org/site/PageServer?pagename=77days_dayx
77 Days of Prayer for Our New President:
“For citizens to be faithful in interceding for all leaders of the new administration
‘I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.’
I Timothy 2:1-2
“Glorious God, You are awesome and mighty, lifting up those who You desire to lift up and putting down those You desire to put down. You love it when Your people come to You with longing for righteousness and godliness. You love it when Your people come to You in prayer.
“Lord, we do that now on behalf of all the leaders in the new presidential administration. Regardless of their leanings or alliances, Lord help us to put our political agendas aside to pray fervently for all those in authority, knowing that You have placed them there. They were chosen by You to lead for such as time as this, and they are worthy of our intercessions. Enable us, O precious God, to be faithful in our calling to pray. In Jesus name we pray, amen.”
Hope this helps. We’re actually doing it for ourselves so that “we may live peaceful and quiet lives.” (I always include a request to change my heart so that I would WANT to pray for Obama.)
I don't understand how anyone would want to pray for Obama; a prayer for him is a prayer against almost everything we hold dear in America.
If you really want to pray for Obama, here's a suggestion:
Pray that he will tell the American people the truth about his birth certificate, confess his crimes, apologize for misleading us, resign his position at the Office of the President-elect, and petition for a conservative to replace him.
It'll be curious to see if a movement (sincere or bogus, you never can tell with these things) gains momentum to shorten the length of time between the election and the inauguration. People who live in countries with parliamentary systems are always amazed at how long our campaign "season" runs (and how expensive it is) and then the lag time between the election and the swearing-in. They're used to a one-day turnaround. I have to admit a one-day turnaround would make me nervous.
It's already wearing on him...I saw a bit of his press conference where he snapped a bit at a reporter who asked about his tax cut plan. He can't or hasn't yet learned to put on a fake smile for questions like that.
Largely because all else being equal, I'd prefer the Republic not to be destroyed to make a point.
We should be glad the inauguration isn't in March like it used to be. But I understand your point - the lame duck period makes a lot of foreign policy difficult.
Sometimes people can BS their way into positions and manage to learn on the job. I hope Obama is one of the people who can pull that off.
A lot of loons voted for the Obammunist who promised "hope".

“The only god those Obama voters deify is the Magic negro himself, the One, the messiah...”
Don’t forget that government is also their god.
Pray for his conversion ... at the moment, he appears to be a pagan racist death-worhiper.
Hussein is doing the right thing in this case. Probably for the wrong reasons, though. If only he would keep quite about other foreign policy matters until after he takes office.
Naturally, that doesn’t apply to domestic policy.
