The price of gasoline is low, but in Rochester and across Western New York, drivers pay more for gas than elsewhere.
Congresswoman Louise Slaughter wants to know why. The Democrat from Fairport is sending letters to the heads of Sunoco, Citgo, and ExxonMobil, seeking answers.
Rep. Slaughter said that on January 2nd, gas was selling at the Sunoco station on Culver Road for $1.88. In New Jersey and Massachusetts, Slaughter drivers were paying $1.45 and $1.60, respectively.
According to AAA, the average price for gasoline nationwide was $1.67 on Thursday. In Rochester, the average is $1.78.
It is the taxes.
New York 59.6¢/g
Massachusetts 41.9¢/g
New Jersey 32.9¢/g

How do these people get elected?
You mean a US Congresscritter didn’t bother to check the most logical explanation before making a fool of herself? Go figure....
Apparently completely stupid voters.
I wish she would get one of those generic form letters in return. “Thank you for expressing your interest in ExxonMobil. As you know, we are the largest . . . .”
Not only stupid, but ugly. Yech
Is she a blond? She probably voted for the higher gas tax, now she’s clueless why gas prices are higher?
In other news, the sun will rise in the east today.

The dullard herself....
Because we allow people of I.Q.'s less than a donkey to vote?
In my younger days I was part of this group in western New York. yep, we shouldn’t disrespect the donkeys because they are smarter. I could tell stories that would make the hair on the back of your neck rise. Bottom line is its a bunch of sheep following the herd over the cliff. Thats why Buffalo finances has to be run by the state, they can’t handle their finances.
Geez Louis, am I glad I got out of that miserable area. Hey Louise, why don’t you ask for some more hand-outs for your have-not constituents? I’m sure you’ll scam the treasury and raise taxes to cover any short-fall. Idiot!
Include the news station on that list too as they didn't figure it out (or at least they didn't report it)
Not to mention county sales tax. Having driven through Western NY last month I can tell you that gas is cheaper in other parts of the state

local county sales tax of between 3.125% to 4.75%.
